I wish to repeat that Notre Dame on a number of issues, several of them related to Catholic teaching on sexuality, has taken positions which have often gone against the dominant university culture and which have not always been emulated by other major Catholic universities. I wish to honor those earlier decisions and to entreat Notre Dame to bring the same convictions of courage, truth and consistency to this matter. I think this means that ND has not been as "gay-friendly" as most schools, including Catholic schools. Evidently, though, university officials are so afraid of feminist backlash that they won't back down on this one.

Catholics have often been accused of being obsessed with sex and sexual sin but the story of the Vagina Monologues negates that charge. It is the secularists who would use sex and its symbols by talking about it incessantly and parading it everywhere, to reduce it's true significance and place in our lives.
The Bishop places this in perspective. The administrators at Notre Dame, trying to be oh so modern and up to date contribute to the demeaning of their own faith. Shame on them.

Somewhere some good Catholic middle class couple is paying off a 2nd mortgage to keep their pride and joy at Notre Dame, where--in the preposterous name of academic freedom--their child is being told that listening to a bearded dyke constitutes the higher cause.
God save us.

They feel compelled to put on this "play" every year? I think the author has figured out a scam with some feminist groups to get the thing constantly produced.

Recently The Vagina Monologues were performed here at Oklahoma State. The next day the school paper ran an article entitled "Vagina's on Display". That is an attention grabber.
