Oh I'm not defending the MSM! Just Hollywood film making which I am enthusiast of. I'm sure there people there who condemned the film without seeing it. You have people like that in all walks of life.
Did anybody?? And that is whole point basically in a nutshell the reason for the gulf between their audience and their opinions, that we have been trying to show. It still gets down to the same issue. You either want to try to understand or do not.
Let's talk about the MOVIES for once, Lady.
We have been. Message is just as important....Just ask Hollywood. They sent one loud and clear, and some of the people here think that that message has done the irreparable harm.
Time will tell if this is the breaking point that some of us here seem to see it to be or show us to be totally of the mark, but one thing is very clear, message is what the Oscars are about this year, like it or not. They dug that hole themselves.
RE: "Did you even SEE any of the films nominated for Best Picture this year?
Did anybody??"
Yup, me. All of them. Not a single one of the nominees for Best Picture has failed to reach sales of 50 million as of this date (the Aviator is at about 90 Million to boot) so the rest of your rant is nothing but nonsense. If you're going to attempt to paint the spending habits of the average evangelical who watches one or two movies a year as a decent barometer for quality in the American cinema, you're going to have your work cut out for you.
RE: "Message is just as important....Just ask Hollywood. They sent one loud and clear, and some of the people here think that that message has done the irreparable harm."
Umm, what message? Does the selection of 5 (mostly) superb movies for Best Picture above the Passion of the Christ (and Eternal Sunshine, the Incredibles, Closer, etc.) constitute some kind of a "message" in your mind?
RE: "Time will tell if this is the breaking point that some of us here seem to see it to be..."
And some of "us" here are tilting at windmills, eh Don Quixote?
