Survey says 98 out of 100 senators think they should be president. Frist is not one of the two who don't.

But his chances are slim, and he may just be smart enough to know that. He has no star power. He has no signature issue except healthcare, and he has not staked out an conservative position there.

Worst of all, from my point of view, is that he went to Washington with no coherent political/economic philsophy, because he had been a doctor his whole life and paid scant attention to such things. As a result, what philosophy he does have in those areas was shaped by the Washington elite, and will have no resonance with mainline Republican voters.

I think voters will. Nothing against Frist, except that there's nothing for Frist.

Ditto that! That was my first thought as well. If he breaks the back of the obstructionist Dems, he could have my vote.

I really don't get this BS that just because someone is a Senator, they can't win or they will make a lousy President. You pick the President based on the person, not whether they were a Senator or a Governor. Besides, the Historical sample is too small to draw real conclusions.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Sen. Frist, and he's one of the nicest, smartest, most decent men to ever hold office. I respect him. Even if he hasn't been as tough as we'd have liked as Majority Leader.

But don't count him out. He's a formidable campaigner...knocked Jim Sasser out in '94 after Sasser had won reelection with 65% six years prior.

Hope he does run. He'd make a good president.

I'd like to see a Frist/Rice ticket.

He must mean President of his local Medical Board!

He hasn't shown anything that would even remotely make me consider him for any national office!

He's running. Not that I want him to, at least till he shows a pair about judges, but I know for a fact he's running. (Grammy son is connected politically)

What the heck has Frist done?
Let the Dems savage our President, let the dems act as they are the majority party, let the dems keep judicial nominees
from even getting a vote.

Hey there Mr. Frist, want to get noticed? How about leading the charge to keep f-ing illegals out of our country.
For GODs sake, do something, anything.

Run for president, ha
Hitlery would eat this guy for lunch.

Few of the Freepers want a Senator to to be the nominee, but if Frist can raise the money, he'll quickly become the frontrunner. The last time an "ideologically pure" candidate got the nomination was Reagan in 1980.
