I don’t care about the race and ethnicity of my child’s classmates. I want my child to attend a school with children who are better academic performers than her so that she can learn from her peers. I want my child’s classmates to speak English so that her English skills will develop.

Therefore, I left the LAUSD. I hope my child can graduate from the Saugus Union Elementary School District before it deteriorates like the LAUSD

Very good goals, but in this whole article, the writer doesn't mention the stranglehold of the govt. schools teacher's unions, who IMO are failing all of us with their PC ridden agaenda.

Hey I was in Mont Tremblant, Canada this weekend. Very nice I was impressed. Very coooold. Like I said, we had no language issues in my public school. It was a joke!!!!!

Don't Chinese kids raise the test score levels. especially in Canada LOL!

Not when they don't speak english. Many of them are sent here from overseas to study and don't speak a word of english - and really don't care to learn because the system caters to them at the expense of taxpayers, of which their families aren't if they're from overseas.

That being said, the Chinese students that are here legally, that do learn english, excel in school and definitely raise the test score levels.

I have posited many times that the reason asian groups don't care about affirmative action at the Univ of Cal is that their enrollments will decrease. When they compete in a free market, they do very well.

Since some of these districts have so many kids showing up who can't speak english, perhaps they should teach those kids in english at the pace they can get it and let the english speakers be in separate classes. Asa the non-English speakers develop they could be integrated (hot-button word alert) into the rest of the classes.

In the 1950s and 1960s, the primary argument against integration of the public schools was that Negro children would bring down the educational level of the public schools.

Racism is racism, regardless of how many paragraphs of data it's wrapped in.
