Thanks for reporting. Putin had better get the message that playing ball with us is the only way to get his nation on track. We should be buying their oil, not the Arabs'.

Cool.
My great-great grandparents are from Osuska & Jablonicia (just across the mountains from Trnava (sp?) a little north of you.
My dad flew us there this past October to see the villages. We spent several nights in Bratislava: near the Cathedral and castle.

That is wonderful to hear, RushCrush!
Of course now with the Summit and the 1,500 news reporters thronging in, the rates will probably go up into the stratosphere.

On the Danube, at the southern border of Slovakia, right at the "triangle" of the rivers dividing Austria and the Chk Republic and Slovakia, about 1 hour's drive east of Vienna.
It's at an old river crossing that the Huns, Magars, Romans, and other various invading hordes have been using since 25,000 BC.

Alex, despite the cold and long detours, it sounds like you are having fun in a wonderful vacation spot!

"Oh yes, Ice Hockey!"
I had an apartment in the center on the night that Slovakia won the cup. The town went wild...They were very proud.
The next day, cars were blowing horns and Champaign was flowing.

Lukasz, these are all Slovakian ice hockey photos, but it's unclear if they are photos of the winning team. Ice hockey is a big sport in Slovakia!

Yes, I like it here a lot.
After the Bush speech, I was interviewed by one reporter and photographed by a few others...I am not sure why I stood out.
It is still snowing, so I duck into one internet cafe to the next. Thanks again to you and Ernest for the photos of Bratislava.

Alex, did you see the posted photo of the Memorial Pressburg Peace signed after Napoleon defeated German Emperor Franz I in 1805 at Austerlitz (Slavkov) two hundred years ago?
Slovakia is also rich in history. We're on the map!

Well, there are about 150 of them in Old Town.
I had a great dinner with a French friend that has been here for 5 years. I just cant remember the name, but it was in the heart of old town.
For Americans, The Dubliner, Irish Pub is a great hangout.
Fireplace, great food and drink..I spend a lot of time there.
