What is with all these stays?? Why can't a decision be made as to who has the authority to make a decision. What does the law say?

Wonderful news but what concerns me is, what if the judge rules at 5 o clock that the tube be pulled. If they do the procedure will we be able to get a judge to overule and doctor to reinsert the tube before the end of the weekend?

What does the law say?

The law says whatever George W. "Haman" Greer of Clearwater, FL, says.

Florida Judge Extends Stay in Terri Schiavo Feeding Tube Case
Feb. 23 (Bloomberg) -- A Florida judge extended a ruling that prevents Terri Schiavo's husband from removing the feeding tube that is keeping his severely brain damaged wife alive.

The ruling by Judge George Greer in Clearwater, Florida, allows Terri Schiavo's parents to continue for 48 hours to seek legal remedies to overturn an appellate court order in the case that allowed Michael Schiavo to seek the removal of the tubes.

Michael Schiavo and his wife's parents have been battling since 1994 over whether Terri Schiavo, 41, should be kept alive. Her parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, say their daughter is able to communicate and may improve with therapy.

As long as her family pays to keep feeding her why would anyone object to keeping her alive?

Well, Michael R. Schiavo, a popular Clearwater nurse, objects. Is anyone surprised at this man's popularity among his neighbors? In an earlier generation, people would have shunned him.

As far as the cost of the feeding tube, there is no cost per se so long as the tube is washed out with clear water after each administration of a nutrititional supplement given two or three times a day.

I'm guessing you think it's ok for the government to allow a man to deprive his estranged brain-damaged wife of food and water, which IS AGAINST FLORIDA LAW. Or am I mistaken? It's just a guess. No offense meant.

You may be right. Issuing a stay until Friday afternoon may be a ploy.
Goodness knows I hope not.

Prayers for Terri and thank you lord for a reprieve.

If she were on death row she would have more rights and a better chance at life. This is screwed up.

Why does he object? It's my understanding that her parents have told him to keep all monies from the settlement, and are willing to accept full responsibility for her care.
