Joined by the First Lady and the Secretary of State, President Bush spoke to US troops at Wiesbaden Army Airfield Base, and met with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to discuss a range of issues from climate change and Iran to a German call to overhaul NATO. He and Schroeder met with a group of young German professionals: Link to Q&A and Bush's brief remarks here, worth reading for his remarkable comments linking energy supply to the September 11 attacks, and discussing nuclear power in America. [Ever notice that the heads of state address one another by their first names but our Senators and Congressmen use titles when talking with or about one another?]
The Bush's left Germany and arrived in Slovakia.
The White House web site changed their daily photos to a slide show and I don't know how to copy them to this thread. Here's the link if you want to see them.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island.
QUOTES: President thanks U.S. troops at Wiesbaden Army Airfield Base, saying, "You are carrying out challenging duties with skill and honor. And today I bring you a message from back home: The American people are grateful to you. Your communities are proud of you. And as you defend the cause of freedom, America stands with you."
Regarding meeting with Schroeder, President Bush shows his diplomatic skills: "I appreciate so very much the strong cooperation between Germany and the United States when it comes to sharing intelligence and to working together. ... And I want to thank you for that good work."
Exchanging toasts with Schroeder: "It is in my nation's interest that Europe be strong. We want a strong partner for peace and freedom. We can't have good, strong relations with Europe if we don't have good relations with Germany."

I have yet to see, and hope I never shall, a photo of Laura Bush with any other leader or leader's spouse or where the other woman eclipsed Laura. This is not to say that some of these other women have not been very attractive, decent, warm people. It's just that Laura outshines them all.

Winston Churchill said he felt like he was walking with destiny when he finally came to power to confront the Nazi challenge. I see many similarities between him and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who, in this photo, is shown receiving applause from soldiers of the 1st Armored Division at Weisbaden Army Airfield Base in Germany, February 23
