The Brooklyn teacher who sent an American soldier demoralizing letters written by sixth-graders apologized yesterday and admitted blame. In a statement issued by the Department of Education, social studies teacher Alex Kunhardt said he regretted offending Pfc. Rob Jacobs.
His statement, however, did not address whether he either coached the students or read their missives which accused soldiers of committing atrocities in Iraq before mailing them.

After hearing what was in those letters, there is NO WAY the kids wrote them without coaching and direction. This man should move to Boulder and get a job as Ward Churchill's assistant!

This is one of those
non apology apologies. Im sorry that you were offended. Thats indicative of the slime that would send these letters.
" "It was never my intention to demean or insult anyone," said Kunhardt, who was spotted tossing a snowboard in his car outside his Park Slope home before driving off yesterday morning. "I never meant for the words of my students to hurt any of our troops. The responsibility for this action is mine alone, and I apologize." "

There is no reasonable explaination for him not addressing the bold other than he did not read them or he coached the students and had no idea this would blow up in his face like this.

Piece of crud liberal, socialist scumbag. I grew up and went to school during the Vietnam war. NEVER did any of my teachers SAY anything about the war, never. It was all reading, riting and rithmatic.

Mayor Bloomberg said New Yorkers should support the troops but that GIs in the war zone know they are protecting freedom of speech. "We have freedom of speech and you certainly cannot go around censoring what people want to write," Bloomberg said.
"I think most of [the soldiers overseas] believe that the freedoms that we have, like the freedom to write critical letters, are protected by them putting their lives at risk," Bloomberg said.
Bloomberg's gotta go.

social studies teacher Alex Kunhardt said he regretted offending Pfc. Rob Jacobs. He's only sorry he got in trouble: secretly, he probably still believes he did the right thing and resents the fact that someone is making him apologize.
I guarantee it.
