Network Ten has axed the Australian version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy due to poor ratings.
A spokesman for the network said the remaining episodes in the current season would be screened as specials, but no further series were planned.
Wednesday night's episode attracted only 229,000 viewers compared to Network Nine's Macleod's Daughters which drew 427,000 in the same time-slot.
Ten said it was surprised by the lack of interest in the Australian version of the US ratings winner. "We believe Queer Eye didn't get the figures it deserved," the spokesman told a Melbourne newspaper.

I didn't realize that the US version was a "ratings winner".

Dear God, please axe the original. My silly wife insists on watching it and I know demons are entering our home through the TV.

"We believe Queer Eye didn't get the figures it deserved"In Australia, it did get the ratings it deserved. It's America's ratings that are all out of whack.
Other than the horrendous anti-gun laws, Australia may not be such a bad place after all.

Give me back my good old MST3K and Godzilla flicks and I'll be a happy FReeper.

My silly wife insists on watching itSo, who wears the pants in your family?
Sorry, but had to ask. Fortunately, my wife isn't interested in such garbage. But even if she were, there's no way I'd allow that crap into my home.

It figures most of Australia has the same opinion of that show as I do.
Never watched and don't care.

Some of my old friends in Queensland would probably beat me up if I admitted to having watched an episode of this show.
Australia has IMHO a very macho culture. Much more so, than what I have experienced in the United States.
Cheers.

Australians may be relaxed, but they generally are not stupid people when it comes to what is right and what is wrong.
TV shows like this are mind pollution of the worst kind.
To: Paleo Conservative
"We believe Queer Eye didn't get the figures it deserved," the spokesman told a Melbourne newspaper. So sue the Australian public for turning a blind eye to the queer guy. Whiners, whiners, all of them...

Queer Eye axedThat's one of the better thread titles I've read. :)
Sounds like a cross between a 1950's sci fi movie and a later 'Jason' slasher flick.

I haven't seen anything but news and the occasional last quarter of a football game for over a year. I wondered if I'd miss all the other stuff on TV. I never watched the reality shows, but I did watch some sitcomes and other light viewing.
It occurs to me that I don't miss any of it at all.
