Wouldn't many people be kicking and screaming under such a situation? When people go crazy and desperate, they are not easy to restrain. That is my take.

I know for a fact that a 7.62x37 will go clean through 1/4 inch steel plate at 50 yards. (I have personally put many of these rounds through many steel plates with my SKS)
One has to do a hydrostatic force calculation to determine if the shock from a 7.62x39 fired from 2 meters would create enough explosive pressure to cause a skull to disintegrate from the lower orbital lobe up.

Yeah, this certainly is a forensic puzzle here. I personally think that there was some re-arrangement after the fact.
A 7.62 can certainly do some amazing things, but I don't think it would be as clean or massive as the photo indicates. There would certainly be a cavernous hole in the front, but the back of the skull would probably stay in tact with a smaller entry wound. There would be a whole lot left over. Also, the hair is gone too. Basically, there should be a bigger mess, especially if they used some type of hollow point or soft point round.
Whether the military or police would use such rounds is speculation. I would guess they would use a jacketed round which would never cause this kind of damage.
Interesting puzzle.

So they are prisoners. In light of controversy, I ask the title to be changed from "dissidents" to "prisoners." I try to be neutral about their nature. Someday we may be able to eventually find out what their real crime was.
