Yeah, all of the complaints that you've read on FR are just anecdotal. Couldn't be happening in the real world. Nothing to see here, Mac fans. Keep moving... /SARCASM

Seems to me that "all the complaints you've read on FR" are of the nature of "I heard of a guy who had a problem with his iPod battery. That kind of complaint is akin to an urban legend.

Counter that with quite a few iPodding Freepers who claim their iPods are still going string 2 and 3 years later.

Uh, no. Wrong. There are people on this thread (and others that have preceded it) that have had to replace their batteries. Note: I don't have a problem with replacing the battery, per se. After all, I replace my cell phone battery periodically. Batteries do have a limited lifespan. No, what I don't like is the fact that Apple intentionally designed this device so that it would be difficult for the average person to replace the battery -- and would need to send it back to the manufacturer. That's nuts. Now, you can quibble about whether the average person should know how to replace their battery -- but that's not the point. Apple should have used a battery design such as that found in cell phones, with a single button to pop the thing off and on. Point of fact, Apple designed this device for early obsolescence. And, then, wants you to subsidize its obsolescent design by sending them $107 every 18 months or so, on average.

So what. There are still people using black-and-white TV sets. Luck is a poor design principle.
