George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.
Winchester police say William Poole, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Investigators say they discovered materials at Poole's home that outline possible acts of violence aimed at students, teachers, and police.
Poole told LEX 18 that the whole incident is a big misunderstanding. He claims that what his grandparents found in his journal and turned into police was a short story he wrote for English class.
"My story is based on fiction," said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. "It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."
Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. "Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it's a felony in the state of Kentucky," said Winchester Police detective Steven Caudill.
Poole disputes that he was threatening anyone.
"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing," said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."
On Thursday, a judge raised Poole's bond from one to five thousand dollars after prosecutors requested it, citing the seriousness of the charge.
Poole is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
If only the parents or the Grandparents of the students who committed the crime, at Columbine, had tipped off the police, that their kids had evil intent to commit a crime..IF ONLY
IF ONLY GUNS WERE ILLEGAL, IF ONLY SOMEONE WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN bla bla bla
People WERE warned of columbine. Even so, stopping them before the fact wouldve been wrong, and probably unproductive if it were about the words alone.
Someone bent on murder/suicide is hardly gonna flinch from being delayed in thier goals.
And IF this guy was writing specific entries about killing people that are NOT zombies, this little exercise in power will NOT make any of his future victims any more safe or any less dead...
Obviously you have, why else would you argue sufficient probable cause?
All I really need to know is that he's been charged with a FELONY, for AT MOST something he wrote on a piece of paper...
Whenever I hear about "the seriousness of the charges" from the SD or the SS or the FBI or the local police or whatever, then I know for sure that they're full of $hit. They deliberately exaggerate when they've screwed the pooch so that they can try to get the poor victim of their tyranny to plead guilty to something. Every time I hear some pompous bureaucrat say "We take this very seriously" I add another name to my list of little tin horn tyrants and thugs in blue.
How can writing in a private journal that had not been communicated to anyone (only "found" by the grandparents), and certainly not communicated to the supposedly intended victims, constitute "threatening," never-mind "terrorist threatening?" Without even taking into account Poole's claims that this was a draft of a work of fiction, and was not specific to his own school, it would seem that Poole is being charged with a "thoughtcrime."
Well, just so it doesn't turn into France.
Exactly, from that point forward, I know it is ALL AGENDA and cya...
You will probably get shot by the swat team if you bring this book into any school in kentucky. Its fiction but its model on columbine you can read a review of it here
Sounds real to me.
This is really bad not only do they tell you hoew to survive a zombie out break but they show pictures of and mention GUNS aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Jimmy Carter horror stories.
To which many Patriots would reply: "if you're going to do the time, might as well commit the crime".
In the meantime, I plan to continue living my life on *my* terms. This includes mocking the bastards at every turn, and tossing the occasional monkeywrench into their system when the opportunity arises.
It's our obligation as Americans to do so.
You forgot to add: "That owned slaves"
That being said and done, The important thing is: Do you feel safer now?
Hell, we used to sing "Christmas" carols at school, but with different words
"Deck the halls with gasoline... fa la la la la la la" was one of the popular ones, if I recall correctly.
Probably a felony now.... Welcome to Amerika.
Monday....I do understand the meaning of Irony.....and you sir....are assuming your views are right...and my are not, When in fact we are discussing an issue.

Student charged with threatening armed school takeover
Associated Press
WINCHESTER, Ky. - An 18-year-old high school student was in jail Friday, charged with threatening an armed takeover of his school.
William Poole, a junior at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, was arrested Thursday at school on a terroristic threatening charge.
The arrest came after a tip from a family member that Pool was trying to "recruit a gang to take over the school," Detective Berl Perdue said.
"He didn't have a gang, but he was attempting to organize one," Perdue said.
Police said writings in which Poole tried to persuade other students to take part in the takeover were found.
"We don't know who's included in this," George Rogers Clark Principal John Atkins said. "That's what we're working on, to see if there were other individuals involved. ... We're not sure that there are."
Assuming innocence is not only lazy, ignorant , but a knee jerk reaction.

This is one smart and determined fluke.
Maybe that's where we get the word fluke, meaning lucky or chance occurrence.
