Drop something heavy, indeed!

Consider Matsui's top financial contributors: Madeline Albright, Robert Ruben, Sandy Berger. It's a who's - who of the Clinton Administration.

Matsui was a central figure in the Clinton-Gore Asian Fundraising Scandal. She got White House Security Clearance for John Huang 24 separate times, who was convicted of illegal fundraising activities.

The last one in California lost -- Congressman Joe Baca beat the widow of Congressman George Brown. Below is the opening in the story the day after the election. (She should have conceded. lol)

September 22, 1999
SAN BERNARDINO, California -- The widow of Democratic Rep. George E. Brown Jr. has apparently failed to advance to a runoff after losing a special election for her husband's seat, but has refused to concede the election.

As one who lives int he district, no need.

Robert Matsui was reportedly a really nice guy -- and a total Clinton lock-stepper. His seat was impregnable. Candidates for that seat are simply "sacrificial lambs."

She's trying to inherit his seat just by being (A) his widow and (B) a Dem.

Sadly, in this district, that's probably enough.

Hey, I live in the district too :)

I think if Matsui doesn't make the runoff she'll be in real trouble. The burgeoning scandals are one thing, but the reports about her farm and the payment of illegal aliens for farm work could be just another blow.

Isn't Matsui's seat solid Democrat though?

Longshot, at best, for the GOP'er to pervail.

It's 51% Democrat. Not exactly impenetrable!

Key for step one is to keep Matsui below 51%. Since Matsui has 3 Democrat challengers, a Green Party Challenger, a Peace and Freedom Challenger, well you get the drift.

We need to stop this woman in this upcoming Special Election, and time is short. We at the Flynn campaign just started a major radio ad campaign. You can hear our first ad here

As I said earlier, it is gerrymandered to make the Democrat the overwhelming favorite.

BUT, this is NOT a regular election with a normal turn-out. The number of likely voters will be very small. So if conservatives are motivated to turn-out, they can win in the special.

Hopefully, the Governor's redistricting initiative will pass in November, and that will guarantee that this seat will be competitive in the future. That is why it is so important to make the strong race now.

We need a lot of Republicans working on Election Day to get as many GOP voters to the polls! *hint hint, RW Guy*

51% Democrat, and 30% Republican. Good luck.

Consider following the Rowe model for elections - get out the vote. Study his ideas and how he motiviated Bush supporters to go vote.

Pound on doors in exurbia, if such an area exists in the district, and talk to the voters.

Will Arnold help?

Good luck.

I've worked for Republican legislators on their campaigns that had worse Republican registration and won, it's a lot of hard work and requires both a strong ground game and substantial funding.

In the statewide special for the recall and the replacement Governor, Republicans did well. The top two got 55% while the leading Democrat only got 35%.

Schwarzenegger (rep) -- 43%
McClintock (Rep) -- 12%
Bustamonte (Dem) -- 35%

Even though the district is very Democratic, it is not impossible if conservatives turn out on election day and turn in their absentee ballots.

Huang, the D.N.C. fund raiser who once worked for the Lippo Group of Indonesia and who made 76 visits to the White House, sometimes to see Clinton, sometimes to see Ickes and sometimes to see Doris Matsui, the woman in Herman's office who organized support from Asian Americans.

Cox Report of 1999. In 1997 Clinton established most favored nation status with China. This was their payback to the American People. All arranged by Doris Matsui.

******

Matsui is the wife of California Democrat Representative Robert Matsui. However, she had political connections of her own having served as a trustee of the California Economic Advisory Council with Public Official Executive Board members, Gray Davis, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein.

Matsui worked closely with John Huang, with the title of deputy assistant to President Clinton. Together they raised over $3 million in campaign funds from Asia and Asian-Americans. $1.2 million had to be returned because it came from corporations and non-citizens.

It was in this time frame that John Huang worked first in the Commerce Department and then transferred to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) but kept his high security clearance. Huang had been attending CIA briefings and then immediately went across the street to the Washington office of Jackson Stephens, the Arkansas broker who was a financial angel of Bill Clinton and placed phone calls to his Chinese handler in the Lippo Group in Indonesia.

Stephens was a partner with James Riady of the Lippo Group in the Worthen bank in Little Rock.

******

Other news reports indicated that Matsui worked with Harold Ickes and Alexis Harman to devise a comprehensive series of coffees with Clinton and other high-ranking administration officials. Critics alleged the coffees were nothing more than fundraising operations run right out of the people's owned White House.

She left the White House to become a lobbyist on tax and trade issues, which just happened to be the jurisdiction of the House Ways and Means committee, where her husband was one of the most prominent members. Doris says she never lobbied her husband on these issues, but obviously other members were inclined to be disproportionately attentive and helpful towards the wife of one of their colleagues.

Now, recent revelations show that she made a financial killing on a secret real estate project organized by a prominent Sacramento developer, Angelo Tsakapoulos, who has had several contentious public policy issues before government agencies. The deal came about after Matsui complained she was not achieving a satisfactory financial return on her investments in the stock market. Tsakapoulos in turn took very good care of Doris Matsui, as she netted over $200,000 in profits.

The Outreach Plan targeting Asian Americans was created in early 1996--or maybe`95--by a group of about six or seven people, chaired by Congressman Bob Matsui's wife, Doris Matsui, who is on President Clinton's staff in the White House. And apparently, the report was essentially written by John Huang. The interesting thing is that of all the outreach plans, none of them carried a price tag except for the one targeting Asian Americans.

Little Anna Matsui has ideas other than listening as her grandmother, Doris Matsui, announces her candidacy earlier this month. Doris Matsui's daughter-in-law, Anna's mom Amy, corrals the youngster.

Doris Matsui, who is 60, is running to succeed her husband in Congress. As she talks about her loss and her new plans less than a week after her husband was buried, "I'm definitely in full campaign mode; we're setting up a schedule of events," she says.
