Rudy Giuliani's [Presidential] Roadblock's
The National Ledger ^ | March 5, 2005 | Robert Novak

Posted on 03/05/2005 1:21:51 AM PST by Coastal

Sen. Trent Lott looked like a supporter of Rudy Giuliani's presidential ambitions when the former New York mayor visited Lott's home state of Mississippi recently. But in private, he warned Giuliani about roadblocks in his presidential path.

Lott, who likes and admires Giuliani, told him that the New Yorker's support for abortion, homosexual rights and gay marriage are heavy burdens for a Republican to carry nationally. Giuliani protested that he never supported same-sex marriage, only civil unions. Lott then advised that in Mississippi, they don't see any difference between gay marriage and civil unions.

Giuliani's main roadblocks are that he is a gun grabbing, tax & spend, gay loving, abortion supporting, corrupt, LIBERAL Republican.

Sounds like a perfect fit for the U.S. Senate. Let him take on Hitlery in '06.

You left out Rudy is a big Gun Grabber.
A few people were shot in New York City and the shooters were from Florida and had brought the guns from Florida.
He screamed that Florida needed the illegal Sullivan law.

I could never vote for a person who thinks the murder of unborn babies is okay and wants people to be disarmed.

If the Republicans let someone like Rudy get the nomination, they will lose the president election!

That's correct.

Concur. And let's not forget that he endorsed Bill Clinton's presidential candidacy BOTH times.

"If the Republicans let someone like Rudy get the nomination, they will lose the president election!"

You got that right. If the Republicans let someone like Rudy get the nomination, Hillary will have an anti-abortion, pro-2nd-Amendment conservative on a third party ticket so fast your head will spin.

The only challenge for her is to find a conservative third party candidate with enough baggage to make sure that he/she doesn't outpoll her and Rudy in the general election.

And let's not forget that he endorsed Bill Clinton's presidential candidacy BOTH times.

And let's not forget that he endorsed Cuomo for governor when Pataki ran as a Conservative and pubbie in 1994, the year the pubbies took Congress, after which the bent one said, "the era of big government was over", IIRC.

The MSM would love to set up a RINO as a viable third party nominee like McCain or Giuliani, ala Perot. Take a guess at the likely scenario.

The way things are shaping up right now it looks like Hillary is pretty much a sure thing to be given the Democrats' nomination. (The Democrats love to nominate corrupt traitors.) Meanwhile, the GOP primaries could be a drawn-out mess of Giuliani vs. McCain vs. Pataki vs. Owens vs. Romney vs. Frist vs. whoever else decides to jump in.

Hillary will probably get to save all her money for the general election while the RINOs slug it out with the sort-of RINOs and the future RINOs. Not good news.

But don't forget, he's tough on crime. I guess one out of six ain't bad.

Rudy cleaned up NYC from being a democrat run abyss. He would run the war on terror like no one else.
