To paraphrase things "demand for perfection is the enemy of the possible".

No "pure conservative" will get elected state wide in CA, and especially not citywide in Los Angeles.

A moderate Republican, who is pragmatic, but fiscally conservative and business oriented is infinitely better for CA and LA, than a bunch of liberal Democrats, who are the only alternatives.

LA is not a city. It's a mess in transition. There is no "there" there. The mayor's job is mostly posing for pr photos. He has zero powers. His opposition is a pack of clowns in different flavors. The whole thing is a bad joke.
The most amusing thing is reading "expert observers" commenting authoritatively about something that doen't exist.
