Iraqi sources: Al Zarqawi arrested

Iraqi sources have told a Saudi newspaper that al-Qaeda's man in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has been arrested. Al Watan daily said Sunday that the official announcement on the arrest was delayed until a new Iraqi government is in place. The purported arrest supposedly took place on the Iraqi - Syrian border, the report added.

It should be mentioned that CNN aired on Saturday new pictures believed to show al-Zarqawi, who is America's most-wanted man in Iraq.

The Saudi paper said that the arrest of al-Zarqawi was completed ahead the recent visit of US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Iraq. This visit took place early February.

It must be Sunday if there's a "Z-Man Is Caught: Sources Say" thread.

Yeah, and you know what, the guy is covering his face with his hands. The others are not. Zarqawi would do something like that, wouldn't he. He sure would be worried about being recognized for who he is.

Yeah, it's similar.
But I would think he'd be getting a bit more "special" treament than the back of an open truck.

It would be like a scene from "Arabian Nights": they'll bring all those multiple arrested al-Zarqawis in the same room, examine them (everyone will turn out to be one-legged, thus OK so far), and then there will follow their intermittent stories, where each of them will try to claim that he is NOT the real al-Zarqawi. And in the end, all of them would be justly condemned.

BUT DOG!!! When the pictures of Zarqawi surfaced on CNN, remember you said, "something's going on under the surface, I can't quite put my finger on it". You said it was strange the way his picture suddenly surfaced. Well.....maybe this is the explanation. Zarqawi is in custody. Not saying the smiling one of him was taken in custody, but maybe his own people took it right before the hammer fell on them, and he was taken away a prisoner in texkat's truck. Of course the film was confiscated and somehow a picture from it was leaked. Why not?

It has been reported by some that the missing leg was a myth. I don't know which is true.

Suppose they did not yet know who they had. Notice the guy has his hands over his face, while the others don't.
