Goodbye, Dan and good riddance. Don't know what you said today in your farewell, since we were partying. Besides, I've been boycotting Dan since 1988 when he was so very rude to George Herbert Walker Bush.

Dan Rather lead with stories of doom, gloom and despair, and ended with "Courage" and his usual "That's the CBS Evening News for this Wednesday..."

Damn - err, Danm -- great pics!
And, on behalf of all of us single male FReepers -- it looked good, too! :-)

One of our several local conservative talk radio stations "honored" Gunga Dan with soundbites from his past that were no doubt quite different than whatever CBS chose to use on the farewell program tonight. For instance, there were a few bites of him being VERY obsequious in his interview with Saddam in around 2002. He said to Saddam, "Mister President. I am honored that you remembered meeting me in 1992!" (not sure on the year)
Then they played a long, long medley of those ridiculous metaphors or aphorisms or whatever you call them that he spouts continuously in a vain effort to sound "homespun". Ouch! These are painful enough to listen to one at a time ..... but a whole long string of them all at once just about had me ready to pull my car over into the oncoming traffic.
Well, I'll bet cBS's tribute tonight told the truth at least about one thing .... I'll bet someone said that he did a great job of carrying on Cronkheit's legacy now, didn't they?!

Did you ever notice how happy and outgoing the FReepers (and conservatives in general)appear? Contrast that to pictures of anti American/anti troop/anti everything groups. I love being on the right side.

I saw a spot on his big farwell from the staff. They all had BIG smiles on their faces. I thought they sure looked awful happy to see their boss go. You all did great.

Your pictures are not showing up on my computer!
To: newslady
Sorry, :( your pics don't open for me; however the pics in the commentary do. One might just go to the
CBS website today and count the many pictures/PR ads/banners of Dan there are and running stories.
When does the movie come out and who plays Rather and Buckhead? Hey, you know there has to be at least a movie made for TV. Stewart's biography was on starring Sybil Shepard the day she was released from C(up)C(ake)U.
