This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
Be hard to do any worse..

Exactly. Not only was she overpowered and deprived of her weapon, but she broke procedure as well. Why didn't she just hand him a hacksaw and save herself some trouble?
I'm back -- traffic seemed to be loosening up a bit downtown when I came out from down there. But the police presence is all over the place.
If you can't hit effectively with it, it doesn't matter what caliber you carry. I hit competently with a 1911, but I'm far more accurate with the 9mm Browning HP.
A miss with a .50BMG is a lot less effective than a .25ACP through an eye socket.
If that's true..then the sherriff's office screwed the pooch big time..the guy shold have had the three biggest deputies they have escorting him at all times..
How many guns does he have? Other then the escort's gun, did he take anyone elses that he shot?

Thank you for some common sense...Some of the reporters were yelling questions that were pretty un PC there...yet they were ducked..If it was indeed just the one female deputy with the prisoner..hell..if she was careless enough to let him get that close that he could grab her gun..well..here's my theory....they mentioned that she had some severe facial damage..they thought from falling after being shot...BS....my take is he grabbed her..smashed her face into the wall or florr, THEN took her gun..

I don't think she meant for this to happen. I think she, like many people, broke a rule that she was casual about.
Why, I don't know. Maybe someone went out for coffee or something and rather than make him wait, she went in. Maybe he had been very nice and pleasant.
Who knows but I am not going to pile on her, she got a GSW to the head and will have to live with dead people because of this.
Of course it turns out that is not the situation in this case. He being removed from his holding cell when he overpowered the deputy and got her gun. Most jails do not allow firearms in the cell area, for just this reason. The "exterior" guards are well armed of course, sometimes with machine guns of one sort or another.
Of course that brings up the question why a single female officer was bringing this scrote over from the holding cell, and not at least two officers, maybe three. He could have been shackled until just before they walked him in to the courtroom, and still not upset the "influence the jury" crowd.
