Let's face it, the powers that be don't really care. They are in effect outsourcing America. It's much easier to control people who expect very little from life.

how at least one illegal immigrant used a false Social Security number to work inside the Crystal River nuclear power plant.

Lemme guess he got himself a false ID and claimed to be someone who checked out OK to work in the plant.

This is always a risk unless we come up with a national biometric ID in which the gubbermint always knows who everyone is and what they are doing.

Me I prefer the stolen SS# situation to the 100% accurate government ID#.....

This is the kind of crap we are up against:

Immigration Lawyers Group Announces Opposition to "Restrictionist Agenda"
FAIR NEWS FLASH
The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) claims in its latest Dispatch that "restrictionists have hijacked the consensus about the need to enhance our security to further the agenda they had been unable, thus far, to convince Congress to pass." Led by Judith Golub, Senior Director, Advocacy and Public Affairs, they have announced a Lobby Day for March 17 to oppose the following useful and needed proposals:
Placing the military on the border (they're certainly needed -- at least in a support capacity)

Directly linking the issuance of driver's licenses to immigration status (a great common sense idea -- how could they oppose it?)

State and local police enforcement of civil violations of immigration law (why would lawyers -- officers of the court -- oppose this idea?)

Require hospitals to report the immigration status of patients

Expansion of expedited removal (long overdue)

Stiff criminal penalties for employers who fail to comply with employment verification procedures (I guess enforcement is too tough already)

Sharp restrictions on asylum eligibility

Expanded mandatory detention policies (given, less than 15% of aliens released ever show up for hearings, why would we ever want to expand mandatory detention?)

Limiting immigrants access to the federal courts

Prohibiting the use of the consular ID card (why does AILA want to promote illegal immigration?)

Allowing additional uses of secret information/evidence

Moratorium on all immigration (say, there is an idea! Of course, this is a red herring since spouses and unmarried minor children of US citizen would be exempted.)

It sounds like the restrictionists have a full plate of excellent ideas. FAIR members are encouraged to attend "Feet to the Fire" activities in late April to advance fair and just immigration laws that serve the larger national interest.

TO BUSH ADMIN LURKERS: If you people do not start doing something about illegal immigration, and do it soon, all incumbent Republicans and Democrats are going to pay in '06. I promise you that we, the people will find people that WILL move to enforce our immigration laws.

We are tired of having the Mexican government challenging our laws when the people pass mild initiatives to protect themselves against from having to pay for illegals and to assure everyone that illegals are not voting.

We are tired of being told that we must learn spanish in order to live in our own country. We are tired of having to pay for incarcerating illegal criminals in our jails. We are tired of the young illegal males forming "gangs" and spreading violence and crime everywhere.......in short, we are tired of illegal immigration.....get a handle on the problem or you will pay at the ballot box.

I did an employee benefit enrollment at a 100 employee mfg company and afterwards the HR lady called me and told me that she had done a social security audit of her employees and found that 10 were working there with false social security cards. 10%!!!!!! She had to fire the 10.

One employee had been there 10 years and was one of their most trusted employees. He said he had another ss #, but it was collecting worker's comp for him. He wanted to know if he should go "get it" so he could keep his job!

Even though I'm a disgruntled former employee of Progress Energy, I gotta defend them on this. This guy probably got in on a "red badge" which means he had an escort the entire time he was in the protected area. The escorts cannot let the red badged people out of their sight at any time. They even have to go to the bathroom together. And everybody who goes into any nuclear power plant has to go through a security checkpoint like at the airport plus an explosives detector.
Oh, and to get in on a red badge requires a picture ID such as a driver's license and a pat-down search.

The incident raised concerns about soft spots in nuclear security that terrorists could exploit.

Why is it that concern is only acknowledged when some high profile security breach is detected?

I personally am as concerned about the manual labor jobs at food processing plants that are filled with illegals and which provide the potential of causing mass casualties through contamination.

As much as I am pi**ed off at the illegals, I am twice as pi**ed at the government officials that are willingly and knowingly allowing this to happen against the wishes of the people they serve.

In my opinion, if the time ever comes when the illegals are rounded up and deported, we should round up those government officials as well, strip them of their citizenship, declare them persona non grata and dump them across the border as well.
