nopardons, are you familiar with Charles C Coffin, a civil war journalist? Three of the books he wrote were Land of Liberty, Sweet Land of Liberty, The Boys of 76. Excellent reads, all of them. Not fast reads either. Very thought provoking. Land of Liberty begins in the 13th century, sharing unfortunate church history and how the puritans ultimately ventured to the new land...and why. It also includes the truths of Salem's witch trials and how they were a percentage of what had been going on in Europe for many years. Much more is written of course.
I urge everyone to read these fine books.
