Now all we need are signed apologies from roughly 10 million liberal idiots and we will be on our way..........

What a punk. Will he return all the cash he's received for selling out his 'friend'?

Did you read the article ????

•My book promotion has been canceled.
•Future royalties from the book have been assigned to charity.
•The hours of tapes, which prompted offers of millions of dollars, have been turned over to the president.

He seems sincere. In direct answer to your question - yes, he's assigning the profits to charity and canceling his book promotions. He has apparently also turned down seven-figure offers for the tapes.

What a punk...

I disagree. That was a real, honest and sincere apology. Clinton should take notes.

If only others in Washington had the chutzpah to apologize like that when they were wrong instead of postuering all the time, perhaps the country would be even better.

When his father won the presidential election of 1988, I wrote him a 44-page paper on what happens to children of presidents

I knew that someone had done this for Bush, but I didn't realize it was Wead. Does printing an apology in the newspaper really apologize or does it just extend Wead's time in the spotlight? I would think a nice, handwritten note addressed to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue would have served the purpose better.

No doubt, his life has been threatened by the Evil Bush Clan, at least that will be the take down at the DUmp.

Well, at least he apologised. And with humility I might add. I still think he is a weasle, but at least he is one with some honor. He is doing the right thing.

You're right...a private apology would have been more sincere. It's like all these "open letters" that people publish. They are always about themselves and their own moment of fame.

A public apology takes much more humility.

It's not up to me to forgive him which is good for him. If his tapes hadn't received such a negative backlash, he'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

It takes a special person to tape a friend and then release the tapes. And I don't mean the good special.

Maybe he should still do the promotional tour, and donate his royalties to charity.

Sorry you feel that way. Since his was a publicly delivered "hurt" according to public perception and he is an upright individual who had been roundly criticized for not issuing just that public apology, I feel your criticism is unjust.

I don't know what to think...Clearly it's a sincere apology that doesn't try to deflect blame. He made a mistake, and he's accepting responsibility.

But I still wouldn't have him in the house...

Funny the hatred directed towards this man who did NO harm at all to our president.

Yet others are accorded second chance status.

Future royalties from the book have been assigned to charity.

How's about that signing bonus?

There's a reason you aren't hearing anything more about these tapes in the MSM. Why? Because they make Bush look good. I was impressed to see that, in private, Bush takes his Christianity as serious as he does in public. (not that I really ever doubted it, but it was refreshing to see it verified). Compare this to a previous president who never cared about religion until he got his tail caught in a crack and then started carrying around bibles in front of the cameras. The bible got bigger and bigger every time you saw him so that it would be sure to be caught by the TV cameras. I prefer a President who walks it like he talks it.
