The government in any form is irrelevant. They inject themselves. Take away their guns and when they ask you for your papers, you can tell them to go scratch ass. My children are named what I named them, and if there was no government or ten governments, that would be their names.
The media, in my opinion, should follow the lead of the courts to make it less confusing.
I'm not confused. Nor is anyone on this thread, they knew who Connor was. Now he's dead. His father killed him.
The media should refer to anyone as whatever they want. The market will decide if it's too "confusing". The free market and free press still work when left alone.
Maybe this case can now be used as precident against abortionists who commit murder of a late-term fetus.
The mailman does seem to be very popular in the Thag neighborhood!
Could your children change their names if they wanted to?
Someone like Scott will wait years upon years for his execution. Some vigilante who murders Scott, or some parent distraught over a daughter's murder, who kills the murderer would somehow get punished for their crime way before Scott would.
That's my point. Kinda convoluted- sorry.
Most likely he will be put in protective segregation due to his celebrity. 22 hours a day in a 8 by 10 cell, 2 hours excersize in a "dog run" type cage, health care and meals in cell. Showers 3 to 5 times a week. whenever he leaves his cell it will be with him shackled at the feet and wrists. He'll be safe , but in that stiflingly isolated locale his mind will slowly unravel and dissolve. I honestly don't know which is worse, slow death like that or a bullet in the brain. Either way , he earned his ticket to hell. The only question now is if the trip will be fast or slow.

Scott will still be alive by the time Connor would have graduated from high school, unless one of Scott's fellow inmates does the world a service.

I saw our local District Judge sentance a guy to death once. In Texas there is a direct appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin and after losing it the Defendant is formally sentanced to death. As a public spectacle it fell somewhat flat as the judge rattled off the words in the same rapid fire monotone he used to grant uncontested divorces swear in witnesses.
It's a pity some folks are hung up on government approval of even the smallest details of their lives. But, the fact remains, people are who they are. No guns needed, and the government can call people whatever they want. Free people can answer if they choose.

That may be true. But the courts no more recognize me as "Bluegrass Conservative" than they recognize this fetus as "Connor Peterson." A judicial system HAS to be built upon some standards. The standard that our's uses in regards to names is that you are the name on your birth certificate, provided there is not official court documents stating you have had that changed.

Yes, I know the media is free to do so. But they are also free to call him "fetus" if they choose and should not be criticized for doing so. And of course the grandparents are free to bury him and put his "name" on the stone. It would be fitting and proper for them to do so. Connor was alive, now he is dead. His father murdered him and has no remorse.
Laci Peterson was pregnant and had a fetus living inside her because of her physical support. A jury believed Scott Peterson killed Laci, and in turn cut off all support to the fetus, rendering it dead as well. If Scott Peterson is truly guilty of these crimes (and I believe he is), he will indeed burn in hell (if there is fire there).
Nice try on all that. Connor was an unborn person. The people who love abortion murder call such people fetuses. They can kiss my ass.
That may be true, but they are accurate in this case. The proper scientific term is fetus.
