(Vanity) An Open Letter of Thanks To Freepers Re Terri Schiavo, From One Who Frequently Disagrees
me | 3/16/2004 | me

Posted on 03/16/2005 12:21:57 PM PST by pleasedontzotme

Dear Freepers:

This is my first post here, and it may very well be my only one, but I wanted to just thank you all for being such a great resource for information on the Terri Schiavo case.

I usually come here when my blood pressure is just too low, because I’d have to say I usually (okay, almost always) disagree with the views expressed here. (dons flame suit) But I admire you folks as a community of individuals who care about each other and about your country. While I disagree with most of the policies espoused here, you still are patriotic Americans and it shines through. There is clearly an intelligence to the discussion level here and I learn many facts.

Through lurking here on FR (and, let’s be honest, that IS what I’m doing :-) ), I’ve gotten to learn so much about the Terri Schiavo case. As a third-year law student and one who has recently had the opportunity to watch the justice system at its absolute worst in a case involving a dear friend of mine, I am gravely concerned by the way Judge Greer has acted, and the ignoring of the misdeeds of Michael Schiavo. (Not to mention the darned videos of Terri, which so clearly show her to be responsive. Or the refusal of Michael S. or Greer to allow her to go through therapy. Or Michael’s 1992 testimony “I want to care for her for the rest of her life...” (ugh) Or...well, I could go on.

Anyway, folks, the information y’all have provided here on this issue has been terrific. Regardless of the outcome of this case, and I don’t know that I have a whole lot of hope for a good outcome, I just wanted to say how much fun it is being on the same side of the fence with you all for once.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to hugging a tree or putting on Birkenstocks or eating Ben & Jerry’s, or whatever it is that “people like me” do.

Respectfully, gRATefully (just a tip of the hat to Freeper sensibilities), and with hope Terri’s life can be spared,

PleaseDontZotMe

I don't think any us Freepers agree on everything, but that is whats so great about the good ole US of A ...I run into a problem with people who go against the right to express those views.

Our Forefathers knew we would have different ideas but they also knew that the Constitution had to be upheld to keep this country operating on that system.

The difference between freepers and Du'ers is that we understand a different view as long as you can give in an intelligent form ..there (DU) I think you are either on their side of the road or an extremists.

Welcome thanks for your post..I learn alot by reading here also....

"Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to hugging a tree or putting on Birkenstocks or eating Ben & Jerry’s, or whatever it is that “people like me” do."

I hug trees (when I'm putting a loop of rope around to help guide them away from trouble when I'm cutting them down); I wear Birkenstocks (they're comfortable and practical, and protect my socks from the dreaded Newfie Drool); I even kind of eat Ben and Jerry's ice cream (they don't make "Dastardly Mash" anymore, so I make my own). So I guess "people like me" must mean guys in Montana. Boy howdy there, Pardner!

I would be interested in learning just what you disagree with on this forum.

I suspected there might be a few "normal" DemocRATs out there on the web, but you'll have to excuse us if we observe you from all angles, circle you carefully, maybe tap on the glass a little, laugh at the majority of your political antics while in our captivity, and toss you peanuts or marshmallows over the fence. (Hey! We could be tossing grenades, LOL!)

You're just such an odd creature amongst us, you're sure to generate much speculation. ;)

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers on Terri, though. I have Faith that cooler heads will prevail and that they won't starve her to death. There are a few bills in Congress right now, being rushed through to try to stop her murder and prevent this fate worse than death from happening to others in the future.

"As a third-year law student..."

There's still hope for you. Keep your eyes open, look at how our tax dollars are spent, and learn all you can about human nature. Most conservatives are good people who have seen how the socialist (liberal) machine takes good money from hard working people and uses it to purchase the votes of the weak minded. Virtually all of the liberal programs are total failures as far as their advertised purpose. They're real good at getting real people trapped in the system, and unable to make it on their own though.

I hate to break it to you, but if you believe in the rule of law, your credentials as a liberal are already in jeopardy.

If you are what/who you say you are and have followed the case and are aware of how the MSM has misrepresented the facts in the case, then you should easily recognize how the world presented by AP, Reuters, CNN, and the other alphabet soup networks bears very little resemblance to the real world. Once you understand that, you should start to see through the lies of the democRAT party. You sound like one capable of thoughtfully disagreeing without being disruptive. If that is the case, you will be welcome around here. Time will tell I suppose.

What a heart-warming, touching post.

I’m going to go back to hugging a tree or putting on Birkenstocks or eating Ben & Jerry’s, or whatever it is that “people like me” do.

On the other hand I hope you burn in the fiery depths of hell.

(I'm joking, just joking)

Early Morning Thoughts on the Current Judicial System

Judges should adjudicate
instead of legislate;
Some prefer to pontificate
but ought to abdicate
or else capitulate
their real estate
to someone who knows the law better.

Well now, being upfront and open?

Not even a MurryMom rant in the middle?

Knows how to make paragraphs and where the shift key is?

Must be broken; no librulz (sic) come from the factory like that.

This could be fun.

You must be a liberal who found the Free Republic useful on Terri Schiavo, even if you don't like what you usually find here.Nothing wrong with that.
