Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.

Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.

According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.

One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.

Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.

As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.

More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.

"it was a REACTION on my part, not a thoughtful response"

Just goes to show you how pervasive and powerful the media has been with it's freedom-hating propaganda over the last 30+ years. The same lies repeated over and over again until we find ourselves adopting their "culture of fear" point of view without even realizing it.

Obviously I must use the constitution for toilet paper since I disagree with how broadly it be intepreted on a single issue.

Broadly eh? sounds more like your narrowly defining the 2nd to allow only 16th century assault rifles...

where are the NORTH HILLS??? i lived out in the farflung sticks of Kiski township! but went to Pitt and lived on campus. I had one grandma lived in North Braddock, and the other lived in Verona. those are my points of reference.

Well, my dad used to work in East Pittsburgh and he grew up in North Braddock. So I don't take the Parkway to Kennywood. Take Lincoln Way from Irwin down to the McKeesport bridge and you're on Kennywood Blvd.

I don't know what to think on the issue of assault weapons, but there's sense in what you say. Some weapons have no place except in the military.

This area is full of places you've heard of, but you have no idea where they're at. Especially little hollows that you could never in a million years accidentally find yourself in.

Sure. There's also no good reason for kids to shoot up an elementary school in the first place, but they did anyway.

Ban them, and criminals STILL GET THEM. It's POINTLESS. It's like trying to cure cancer with a piece of gauze.

Darned if I know. The only thing I remember is getting on the Parkway North somewhere dahntahn, and just driving. There's also a vague memory of McKnight Road and five million other cars ...

I wouldn't venture to the eastern suburbs at all, except that my sister lives near Verona.

Thanks for proving my point with a lot of knee-jerk bullcrap. Never mind my opposition to 99% of gun control, my strong advocacy for control-carry, no, because I don't get my panties in a wad over restricting access to AK-47's and rocket launchers I'm automatically no different in my views than Sarah Brady, Al Gore, or the DU.

Knee jerk bullcrap ??? jmc is citing documented writings, vs your FEELINGS

So youre for 'control-carry', How about I restrict your access to single shot pellet guns ??? After all, since the words of the FFathers themselves arent good enough, and you only seem to favor the 2nd as long as the government controls it [ie control-carry ], then when Im king, thats all you 'need'.

What an idiot.

CONTROL-CARRY ROTFLMAO...

I would argue that the right to bear arms covers any man-portable armament. The right to bear arms was not put in there for sport hunting. It is an anti tyranny measure. An armed populace can never be truly suppressed as long as their will is not broken. When people talk about baning every firearm that has real tactical capability against a modern military of police force I can only assume they are trying to facilitate the subjugation of our population. It the police can't save the people from armed criminals even when they are RIGHT THERE then how are they suppose to defend us against anything? What kinds of firearms are in the hands of law abiding citizens is not the issue. These punks had broken several laws before they even pulled the trigger. How are adding more suppose to solve the problem?
