Sorry for the off-topic question, but I'm sure there is a lot of Pittsburgh folk looking at this thread:

I just finished watching a History Channel documentary on the US Army, and it was stated that artillery noise from Gettysburg was heard all the way in Pittsburgh.

Yahoo maps tells me that is 185 miles. Is this possible?

This site says that not only was the artillery noise from Gettysburg heard in Pittsburgh, but it sounded like rolling thunder in Baltimore!
