I hope the good Lord gives you enough years to reconsider that one!
Dean does suck but thats an interesting way to put it..
He says perjury should be grounds for impeachment, and Nixon would have been convicted had it gone to the Senate.
Then he suggests destruction of evidence. Is he morally consistent?
G Gordon Liddy said that and dared Dean to sue him a long time ago.
I may be wrong to trust my all to often faulty memory, but wasn't John Dean the guy Liddy once threatened to stab in the neck with a pencil?
(AP) Feb 21, 2001 Thursday and dismissed the $5.1 million defamation lawsuit against Watergate conspirator G. Gordon Liddy after the jury was unable to reach a verdict.
The jury deliberated eight hours over two days before sending U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz a note reading, "No way we can reach a verdict."
Ida "Maxie" Wells, a former secretary at the Democratic National Committee, sued Liddy for saying that the Watergate burglars were searching Wells' desk for a package of call-girl photos believed to include a picture of the future wife of John Dean, the former Nixon White House counsel.
Liddy took the stand earlier this week and stood by his account. He said the burglars who broke into the Watergate were not looking for political intelligence on the 1972 campaign, but compromising photos.
Dean has said the theory is ridiculous. His wife, Maureen, has disputed the existence of such a call-girl ring.
Oh, JOHN Dean, le batard!
With all due respect to Mr. Fish, his theory doesn't make that much sense. Why would Dean reveal information that would lead to his own imprisonment?
I strongly suggest that folks read "Book Two - Golden Boy" of Silent Coup, by Len Colodny and Robert Gettlin. The "Golden Boy" is Dean and this section of the book expands on the theory that the break-in was intended to cover up Dean's girlfriend's (Maureen Elizabeth Kane Owen Biner Dean) relationship to a ring of prostitutes run by Maureen's roommate Erika L. "Heidi" Rikan/Cathy Dieter.
Dean could very well be Deep Throat.
"His wife, Maureen, has disputed the existence of such a call-girl ring."
I remember "Mo" from the hearings, very attractive. Always wondered what she saw in the little wimp.
Not likely. The supposed reason that Deep Throat's name has not been disclosed is to protect his aninimty so that he could continue his career. Dean let that ball drop long ago. Disclosing he's Deep Throat would not in any way harm him, and in fact would probably make him a lot wealthier because he could sell more of those books he likes to write. And besides, it seems relatively certain that he would not help break the story that landed him in jail, or that he would at least use that fact as a mitigating factor at his sentencing.
Here she is with the geeky little twerp.
How many foks have been ID'ed as "Deep Throat" over the years?
There is no Deep Throat. An imaginary character so that Woodward would not have to reveal sources.
C. Hitchens is convinced that Kissinger is Deep Throat ... and Hitch should have enough inside data to write a book on it ...
My bet is that Woodward was doing Bernstein (or vice versa) in one of the stalls in the men's room when to other guys came and were talking. W & B were able to pick up enough detail to manufacture a whole story. They couldn't cite "an unnamed source" so, they manufactured one. There is no fake rule more dangerous than the one that says it is a good thing for media pimps to be able to conceal their source.
Does any one believe that had Dean been Deepthroat he wouldn't already have taken credit? He'd be writing more books, doing more interviews and claiming credit for everything!
But, if there really was a Deepthroat, what information has he provided recently and, to whom? Dean is more likely to be the Tooth Fairy than Deepthroat!
