Terri's husband isn't the enemy, guardian says
Orlando Sentinel ^ | February 25, 2005 | Mike Thomas

Wolfson's report is based on court files, depositions, medical records and interviews with everyone involved.

That said, I begin with the most explosive allegation:

Did Michael try to kill Terri?

Wolfson laughs. "No!"

-----

Wolfson's report states that in the four years after her collapse, Michael "had insistently held to the premise that Theresa could recover and the evidence is incontrovertible that he gave his heart and soul to her treatment and care . . . In late autumn of 1990, following months of therapy and testing and formal diagnoses of persistent vegetative state with no evidence of improvement, Michael took Theresa to California, where she received an experimental thalamic stimulator implant in her brain. Michael remained in California caring for Theresa during a period of several months."

Says Wolfson now: "Michael was adoring of her. One nursing home complained he was hostile and abusive of the staff in championing her care. She was immaculately kept. In 13 years, she never had one bedsore."

Since communion is something that (I assume) is not given just before death ritually, it seemed LAST RITES would have been the proper term. I stand corrected.

Communion is offered at every Sunday Mass.

"Not a heart attack, but it is a very common error to make by laymen in the media and public."

When I made a similar correction on another post I was told I was being "picky picky".

Can you imagine people being picky when discussing life and situations! ;-)

Because they are taken from a 4 hour video viewed by Greer and the DCA in the 2000 hearing about whether Terri could improve with treatment.

She had a cardiac arrest due to electrolyte deficiency. Not a heart attack, but it is a very common error to make by laymen in the media and public.

Exactly correct.

The only people who have said she had a heart attack were reporter who misstated the facts.

That and many posters on this thread. My POST was a response to a poster claiming she had a heart attack.

"To me, from this timeline of events it sure looks like Schiavo saw money and became the Enemy. Was he concerned about the windfall being drained by long term costly medical bills and figures to cut it short?"

A reading of the transcripts attached to your reference contains the judges remarks. Lot's of finger pointing on both sides.

So what?

Well, I guess we could say COMA is the same as PVS, and allow people to use them interchangeably, but that would be technically incorrect.

We are trying to sort out the details so I made a point that the term HEART ATTACK was not the correct name for the incident.

I don't think it is fair for either side of the discussion to be allowed to misuse terms, do you?

I would, and have corrected those on both sides. I have been corrected about my mistakes, and I have apologized for them. Would you have it different?

She was given Communion and "last rites", the proper term for which is Anointing of the Sick, one of the seven sacraments instituted by Christ (Baptism, Confirmation, Penance, Eucharist, Holy Orders, Matrimony, Anointing of the Sick).

You are insane if you think dehydration is a common practice.

Oh, please. The lists of tests this woman has had done are overwhelming. Read the testimony and educate yourself.

Dr. Hammesfarh said she had 75% of her brain yet.

Then he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Michael has nothing to do with this anymore. Even if he wanted it's out of his hands.

That white thing may be a implant.???

Most likely a CSF shunt. Used to drain excess fluid which causes headaches and seizures.

From another freeper who shall remain nameless by me:

Terri had every possible test repeated in 2002. But, they say, even their attorney tonight said, "he wont let them do an MRI, etc"

But they don't tell ya that to do that kind of test would zap that metal electrode planted in her brain.

(They also go on about "he did experiments on her!" even though, that was his last-ditch effort at stimulating her brain to function, and it was a technique even their own doctor Hammesfahr has said was a great idea!)

In 2002, they ran every other test - EEGs, CT scans, labs, etc., and 5 docs examined them and her to confirm what all her previous docs and therapists said - that she was both in PVS and that no current therapy could help her.

2 docs appointed by her husband, 2 by her parents, a court-appointed, and her regular doc testified. I read all 900+ pages of that transcript.
