During her early-afternoon speech Kate declared that “If they want to kill Terri they should have the guts to put a gun to her head” rather than condemn her to such a slow and painful death. She finished off by summing up the full import of the Schiavo case, saying, “The measure of a society is how they treat the least of us. Life is sacred or meaningless, there is nothing in between.”

That is a unique way of putting it. Why don't they just shoot all "severely brain damaged" people they can't stand to look at. This is no different. It just takes longer and causes more agony.

I've used a similar argument in rebutting the "quality of life," abortion crowd...you know, 'better to abort than condem a child to a life of poverty, disease and squalor, etc.'

Suggest nuking sub-Saharan Africa to *save* people from living under the very same circumstances, and these idiots go, well...nuclear!

The late Democrat HHH, who had a retarded child himself, said this or something like it years ago. Pat Buchanan used that quote in his two Republican campaigns in the 1990s.

Exactly. It goes to who people like me are. We're not someone else's property. Terri Schiavo is no more her husband's property than she is Judge Greer's. That's the point. We must not allow her to be killed under color of official authority. Its that simple.
