So, if I had to give him advice I'd say "Hey, Pope, you know that deal the Italians do with their right arm, their left arm, and they lift their right leg?
Means about the same thing the Americans mean with that lifted and rotated middle finger.
Anyway, you got a bunch of them there at the Vatican ~ they work all over the place.
Call in the mullahs with their demand and line up the Italian Cardinals to send them a message.
They'll know what it means."
"Pssst ~ no praying for their souls ~ they don't got any!"

I barely care about my great-grandparents who I never knew, except in an abstract human sense.
Why the hell do people care for their ancestors from hundreds of years ago???

Actually the Seljuk Turks had cut off the flow of Jerusalem bound pilgrims that had enriched the fellows who ran Egypt in those days.
The Egyptian Moslems asked the French for help in evicting the Seljuks from the Levant.
No apology is required.

"This sounds like something out of the slavery reparations handbook."
The muslims have probably enslaved more people than were ever working on plantations in the South.

I suppose they also want an "official appology from the pope" for the seal of the city of Milan, which features a Crusade Cross and a serpent swallowing a Muslim. Some people find it aesthetically pleasing.

Because their societies haven't advanced since then.

"The Vatican ambassador......says the request is being considered by the Holy See."There is no way the Pope could seriously consider any type of appology to these thugs. It would be the ultimate insult to the Western World, and a total sellout.

Map of the Christian Roman (Byzantine) Empire in 565 AD.
You'll note that of the 5 most important Christian cites; Rome, Constantinople, Anitoch, Jerusalem, and Alexandria four were conquered by the Muslim hordes...

This apology stuff is really getting out of hand, isn't it?
Everyone just ought to say"Okay I'm sorry for everything that was done for the past 2000 years, are you happy now?"

Ok, we'll apologize -- AFTER they return Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, northern Iraq (Assyria + GReater Armenia), Egypt, Cyrene (present day Libya), the rest of north Africa and Yemen to Christian rule.
Who can we post this to make it happen??

The most selective memory since the French!
Let's see: Attack the Eastern Roman Empire's holdings in the middle east, 6th century. Overrun Christian North Africa. Attack Spain and Portugal. Stopped at the battle of Tours 732 by Charles Martel.Seljuk Turks take Holy Land, and what is now Iraq and Anatolia. CRUSADES.Mamelukes retake Holy Land. Ottoman Turks attack, and eventually overrun Byzantium (1453).Turks take Balkans and Greece, using Christian children bought as slaves, converted, trained as Infantry (Janissaries). Turks take Hungary. Turks driven back from Vienna as late as 1683. Turks defeated on Mediterranean at Lepanto. Barbary Pirates beaten by US in early 19th century. Who the hell owes who an apology?
