Both sides are happy with how this is going :By their intransigence, Democrats gain points with that portion of American voters (a majority according to every poll) who want to see Terri starved to death. This especially pleases their prochoice base. By "trying to save her life" , Republicans gain points with the minority of Americans who don't want Terri starved to death, and especially with their prolife base. Meanwhile, if she'd die before action actually has to taken (12.01 AM tomorrow morning at the earliest, apparently) a majority of both democrats and republicans will be quietly relieved.
I believe both Bushes, Frist, Delay, and a few others are sincere in their wish to help Terri. But I suspect if you could forcibly inject everyone else on both sides with sodium penethol (sp?) and question them, you'd find that most are hoping she'd just die already , before a vote (and actions to enforce the vote, if it passes) takes place.
The Rats want her to die since they figure then she'll vote for them.
I am so concerned that when this is all said and done and passed that we are going to face roadblocks by SCOTUS...what can we do to start working on that?

Nothing. The federal government has no business in this dispute, and I fully expect this law to be struck down by the first federal court it is appealed to.
And, I fully expect the USSC to refuse to hear an appeal. BTW, the Supreme Court has already ruled on the Schiavo case.

I think this time the rats have really blown it.
The schmucks couldn't just sit quietly, they had to get out on TV and in the Congress and yenta it up and basically became cheerleaders for starving to death a disabled woman despite the fact that there is absolutely no proof that she wants to die.
This is the final nail in the coffin of the Democratic party as a viable national institution.
They don't know it yet, but they have just screwed up real bad.
I just this past 5 min., called Wasserman Shultz office here in Broward Co and told them that I was totally ashamed to be a Democrat and that she had gotten my last vote! To all the Fla voters, please email or call the offices of these 2 two idiots and tell them that you are ashamed to be in this party and you are changing your party affiliation!!
