"The way to proceed here is to change the law, not have targeted legislation for one person."

Yes. From what I can see, this is correct. But I wonder how nuch a de novo hearing would make of the Larry King interview where Michael admitted he did NOT know what Terri wanted. One might think that would introduce reasonable doubt.

Who knows

Sinkspur:

We are about thirty years minimum overdue for giving the federal courts the machine-slapping that they need. And at least six years overdue on delivering the same treatment to Floriduh's court system. As to the feds, is 45+ million slaughtered babies enough for you as a deacon of the Roman Catholic Church to which I belong? The Floriduh courts seem to be about the worst nest of liberal corruption existing in any state court system not named Massachusetts or Vermont.

For the federal courts, if they do not get the message, strip their budgets and make the judges do their own work from legal research to sweeping the corridor floors and latrines after hours until they do get the message.

In Lawrence vs. Texas, the federal busybodies in black robes decided to set up a further step in the destruction of Western Civilization by hallucinating that the Founding Fathers were trying to establish federal constitutional rights to put things where they manifestly do not belong, from one lavender to another.

For their next act, the robed tyrants are trying to establish a spousal right to kill your spouse bvy dehydration and starvation if the potential killer spouse can suddenly, yearws after the fact almost vaguely recall that the imminent spousal victim would have wanted to die before living with bad breath or tennis elbow and can convince such "unbiased" witnesses as the potential killer's brother and that brother's wife to also somehow vaguely recall whatever Michael tells them to recall. How can a court, even one run by a human being unlike this Judge Greer, prove otherwise? If you tried to orally transfer title to your burial plot on such flimsy and utterly unreliable evidence, you would be stopped by the Statute of Frauds enacted in every American jurisdiction. I mean, what reason would Killer Mike have to lie?????

If there were an actual Catholic bishop in the vicinity instead of the spineless thing that last week advised the Schindlers (publicly no less) to prepare for her death rather than fight against her judicial murder, he might excommunicate Michael Schiavo publicly with specifics stated, together with any other "Catholic" acting in conspiracy with Michael Schiavo. Fortunately, since the diocese including Pinnellas County is misserved by Bishop Squishball, Tom Delay can be trusted to be more Catholic than they, at least on this subject and probably many more even though he is probably not affiliated directly with Holy Mother the Church.

This subject of the attempted murder of Terri Schiavo is one more reason why deacons ought have no moral authority in the Church whatsoever, even to preach and why moral questions are not to be decided "democratically" or in the pews. If we run out of priests altogether, we can handle it better on our own than rely on deacons on the evidence to date.

Again, if the federal courts misbehave yet again, in an era of budget deficits, slice their budgets into the bone marrow without saying why. We'll figure it out.

Do you know if the objectively evident adulterer Michael Schiavo is a Catholic that attends Mass and takes Communion?

You could be right. When I read the posted reply (amongst all the replies that were upset about Terri's court driven situation,) I assumed the "want to live" exclamation.

Probably one of those Hillary Clinton book deals. There's a lot of money behind and probably to be made from this.

Insurance companies will save millions the state governments will save millions.

This case is going to be the Roe Vs Wade for the euthanasia movement.

If they succeed in killing Terry then this country's black robed tyrants will have opened another door to death that people will be shoved through.

I believe that he is a former Catholic and that he no longer practices but that is an impression. I have no firm facts on this.

I am pretty sure he is not a Catholic yet his adulteress is. I can't recall from which media source I read this or heard it...

If his efforts are successful in bringing about the death of Terri his subsequent 'marriage' would never be recognized by the Church and both he and his adulteress will remain publicly living in mortal sin as long as together.

Code of Canon Law - Title VII. Marriage

Chapter II. Diriment Impediments in General

Can. 1078

§1. The local ordinary can dispense his own subjects residing anywhere and all actually present in his own territory from all impediments of ecclesiastical law except those whose dispensation is reserved to the Apostolic See.

§2. Impediments whose dispensation is reserved to the Apostolic See are:

1/ the impediment arising from sacred orders or from a public perpetual vow of chastity in a religious institute of pontifical right;

2/ the impediment of crime mentioned in can. 1090.

Code of Canon Law - Title VII. Marriage

Chapter III. Specific Diriment Impediments

Can. 1090

§1. One who, with a view to entering marriage with a particular person, has killed that person's spouse, or his or her own spouse, invalidly attempts this marriage.

§2. They also invalidly attempt marriage with each other who, by mutual physical or moral action, brought about the death of either's spouse.
