Dems Block GOP Efforts in Schiavo Case

WASHINGTON - House Republicans, seeing Congress as a last hope for brain-damaged Terri Schiavo, convened an extraordinary Palm Sunday session to pass legislation aimed at prolonging the Florida woman's life. Democrats refused to allow the measure to go ahead with a vote, forcing Republicans to scramble to bring their members back to Washington.

Republicans were denying that political motivations were behind legislative efforts to reconnect Schiavo's feeding tube.

"I hope we're not ... making this human tragedy a political issue," said Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz. "We've got plenty of other issues that are political in nature for us to fight about."

Leaders of both parties agreed Saturday on legislation that they said would allow Schiavo's feeding tube, which was disconnected Friday afternoon, to be reinserted while federal courts review her case.

But when the House convened Sunday afternoon, Democrats made clear they would not let it pass on a voice vote, requiring the assembly of a quorum for a roll call vote.

Perverts. My congress clown, DemocRAT Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, is about to have "news conference" on CSPAN, defending her lameass position on why she thinks Terri should starve to death.

It's so embarrassing that all the opposed are "Jewish" democrats.

I'm so sorry that Jews are represented this way. We're not all like that. Most of us value life.

yes well I don't want to hear another DUM say they are concerned about the lives of our troops. They love to see dead troops (adds to the count) and dead defenseless women and babies.

"Democrats made clear they would not let it pass on a voice vote, requiring the assembly of a quorum for a roll call vote."

Would you seriously expect less from the dominant political culture of death pushers?

They have been quiet of late while they were trying to see how they could be PARISTAN and still push their death agenda in an ornery way.

Death serves Democrats more than life does. They get more mileage out of dead soldiers, dead babies, dead disabled people. DEATH DEATH DEATH - thy name is DEMOCRAT.

"An issue of conscience" says Jim "scumball" Davis, who wants to have Terri starve.

Jim Davis says he PRAYS for Terri Schiavo. Yeah right.

Wasserman-Schultz stands by quiet.

Here comes Wasserman. She says she has been dealing with it. Wasserman decided, when she was in the Florida legislature, that Terri's life should not be saved. "We need to make sure Terri's wishes are paramount here," says Wasserman.

No elected official should stand between family members.

Standing between family members and marriage is hypocritical of pro-life and pro-marriage people.

The process in Florida is set up, it must be followed.

Wasserman-Schultz says it has been FACTUALLY proven that Terri said she DID NOT want to have food or water. Really, Debbie?? Where is that PROVEN?

The Democrats are the Party of Death. If Terri were a seal or a whale, they'd be screaming to keep her alive.
