As we prepare to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ please stop in and join us in prayer and meditation with the Stations of the Cross which will replace our regular weekend thread. May God bless you and yours. Also a special prayer for our military families past and present and for Terri and her family. Thank you all for being part of our FR Family.

King Of Our Lives

Read:
John 19:16-22

I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. -1 Corinthians 15:3

Bible In One Year: Ruth 1-4

coverMore than 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate commanded that a placard be placed on the cross that read: "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." Perhaps Pilate sought to induce fear among the people and discourage them from crowning their own king.

King of the Jews. Was it an original thought at the time? Perhaps it had been introduced when the wise men asked, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?" (Matthew 2:2). They had sought the fulfillment of this promise: "For unto us a Child is born . . . ; the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). They believed Jesus was this Child.

Later, when Christ was crucified, some jeered, "If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross" (Matthew 27:40). They wanted to see if Jesus really was King. But Jesus did not come down. The true meaning of the cross is that "Christ died for our sins" (1 Corinthians 15:3). He who paid the penalty of our sins has made God's forgiveness possible.

Those who accept God's forgiveness and ask Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord can have only one appropriate response-to serve Him. He is King of our lives. -Albert Lee

King of my life I crown Thee now-
Thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow,
Lead me to Calvary. -Hussey

Jesus is King of our lives, so we must serve Him all of our lives.

Good Friday Greetings to all dear Finest FReeper FRiends.

A potent graphic was presented by pookie in his toon thread this AM.. Terri in bed with the shadow of the cross upon her.

To our Jewish friends may the Passover present you the same reflection of faith that Holy week does for we Christians.

Dutchess, thank you for the lovely, tender, presentation of the Stations of the Cross. Those not of the Catholic faith can also find much joy in the remembrance of the Passion as presented here. T

Typical Good Friday in NE Ohio ... overcast, cool, damp. Well, actually that has been the case here for it seems forever.

Going to see the recut Passion (Mel's) this afternoon & Church tonight. I saw the original Passion in theater last year 4 times.

it will be a regular Holy week movie over the years I believe, just as It's a wonderful Life has been a Christmas/New Year tradition.

Later

Hi Aeronaut. FINALLY flew yesterday. My last lesson was Sept. 9th. It was a beautiful day...some clouds, flew about them (absolutely gorgeous). I absolutely LOVED it...my instructor could not believe how well I did, 30 and 45 degree bank turns and virtually held my elevation, assents and decents...able to maintain 50 ft. per minute...and greased my first landing! I don't know what it was, but I think I just broke through a brick wall. CAN'T WAIT for my next lesson. Hope you and yours have a blessed Easter.

P.S. The right rudder stuff finally make sense too. Understood it on the ground...finally makes sense in the air too! :o)
