The greatest crime against humanity is that someone would be *offended*. The Bill of Rights are suspended if anyone might be offended (I sound like Johnnie Cochran there, but that's sort of the way it is today).

"Race is never a deciding factor," said Jodi Chycinski, GVSU's director of admissions
Never mind that the group's protest was about how much those admitted students had to pay to go to school, not whether they got in.

It's time to move past these affirmative action bake sales. I suggest affirmative action car washes!

These students were just trying to prove a point.
Judging just by the adverse reactions, I'd say the point has been proved.

What a brilliant idea. Really, show everyone what affirmative action really is.

More left-wing hypocricy. The first amendment somehow guarantees Ward Churchil the right to $90,000 dollar salary and the right to tell impressionable students to launch terrorist attacks against the US, but it does not guarantee conservatives the right to make a political statement in a public space.

The university's student code states "Every aspect of University life should be free from discrimination ..."? I guess that doesn't apply to the Admissions office, exactly the point they were trying to make.

These bake sales always point out the irony... if a leftist says something that offends conservatives and/or religious folks, then it's a case of that being the type of speech most in need of 1st Amendment protection. When the shoe is on the other foot, it's "inappropriate", "offensive", and "discriminating".
If these guys get censored and/or censured, they should make sure they have someone showing up at every public appearance by campus leftists, to document their speech that is offensive. Then see what happens when they complain about it. If the university applies a double-standard, then I'd say sue them for reinstatement, just to make a point.

We were not in any way trying to mock affirmative action. Why not?

"Every aspect of University life should be free from discrimination ..."
Such a moronic statement. Those against discrimination discriminate against those who are for discrimination.

So they wouldn't have been offended if blacks had been charged MORE than the whites?

This happened at UC Irvine as well. Liberals have no sense of humor. Nor do they get the connection: Affirmative Action is racist.

I have a problem with the pricing. The Asian cake price should be at least as high as that charged for whites. A lot of colleges appear to be over-quota with high-achieving Asians and aren't cutting them any preferential breaks.

"Student Kim Pierson said the issue is not affirmative action, but the fact that the College Republicans "crossed a bold line" that subjected students to blatant discrimination."
"Affirmative action" as practiced today (not as an outreach program as originally intended) subjects students to "blatant discrimination."

This story appears every year at least once. And has for the last 5 years at least.
The only thing that changes (maybe) is the location.

Ashley Chaney, a Grand Rapids junior and editor of Stand UP!, a campus newsletter serving black students, said the bake sale was offensive.
Or a newsletter that I am sure is funded by the University.
