Tragic that some of the most compelling facts in the Terri Schiavo case didn’t emerge before she reached death’s door.
While the mainline media was probing whether the world’s most famous hospice victim had really told husband Michael she would not want to live in a persistent vegetative state, it completely missed the ties of Michael Schiavo’s lawyer to the very hospice where the life-and-death drama played out.
See The Proof Today! From February 13, 1997 to about April 26, 2001 Attorney George Filos was listed as a member of the Board of Directors for "The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast" on the non-profit’s annual reports.
Suncoast operates the hospice where Terri Schiavo has been held.
One doesn’t have to rely on the annual reports of the hospice where Terri Schiavo was left to die for proof of Filos’ board membership. It is stated in the author’s description in the George Filos book, Litigation as Spiritual Practice.
It was in the summer of 1998 when Filos filed the first lawsuit to withdraw food and water from the disabled Terri Schiavo.
The chronology of events is as follows: "Filos becomes Michael Shiavo’s lawyer and files the petition. Then the law in Tallahassee gets changed. The Schiavo case gets heard. In that order." (The David Allen Show).
Surely it’s important to look at who lobbied for changing the law on the books to make food and water be defined as "artificial" life support.
In 1999, House Bill 2131 was introduced for the Florida Elder Affairs and Long-Term Care Committee.
Representative Gus Michael Bilirakis, who also lists himself on the Suncoast Hospice Board of Directors, lobbied on Bill 2131.
It is difficult to understand why the mainline media did not bring these facts before the public in reporting . . . .

I hate to burst your bubble, but the right honorable gentleman is not eligible to nominate Dr. Hammesfahr for a Nobel. So his letter is exactly equal to no letter at all, as far a the Nobel Prize is concerned.
Have you heard about the group that is making news today for having inserted feeding tubes into starving dolphins in the FL Keys? This occurred a couple of weeks ago.

Whatever label you choose to put on it, keep in mind that it is all done with the blessing of the legislature and court systems. "It's legal." It's foolhardy to think that legisltures and courts that sanction this are trustworthy to protect your life.
Hospice is not founded to grant therapy and health giving measures, they are FOUNDED to help terminally ill people DIE NATURALLY and are FORBIDDEN from hastening DEATH!

"The United States Office of Inspector General has issued its warning to the public about questionable hospice agency practices and stated that some hospices have been found to engage in, "practices which ... have inappropriately maximized their Medicare reimbursements at beneficiary expense. These practices include: Making incorrect determinations of a person’s life expectancy for purposes of meeting hospice eligibility criteria." A hospice that bills Medicare, Medicaid or a private insurer for a non-terminal patient is violating the contracts which allow hospices to provide services for the terminally ill."
"Hospices are not licensed to care for the chronically ill. In order for a patient to be admitted to hospice, the physician must "certify" that the patient is likely to die within six months due to a terminal illness. Terri Schiavo has no terminal illness; the only cause of death in her case would be her intentional murder by those intent on ending her life."

Mae and Terri would not have suffered nearly as much as they did, especially Terri, who was actually murdered by a hospice who HASTENED HER DEATH, which is AGAINST the Hospice foundation LAW, had the HOSPICE's involved NOT BROKEN THEIR OWN FOUNDATIONAL LAWS and refused to admit them. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ rules.
I don't disagree that hospice that runs afoul of Medicare/Medicade regulations runs the ris of forfeiting federal money. But that is the only "illegality," i.e., billing the fedgov on false pretenses. The killing itself is not illegal.
Not only that, but it points to just how selfish, self aggrandizing, arrogant and intolerant of faith that the major media outlets are and why these questions were never raised.
Hospice is truly intended to provide palliative care, not long term nursing needs. Maybe Michael wanted to perhaps deny her the long term care by depriving her of all the care and rehabilitation she needed.
That is the LAW that was BROKEN.
Hospices ARE NOT ALLOWED to accept NON TERMINALLY ILL PEOPLE and hospices are NOT ALLOWED to hasten death.
Terri SUFFERED both of these...and Mae ALMOST did.

Being trapped in a Hospice was a way to completely control Terri..keep her out of sight and mind, laugh at the crys of the Schindlers who were to be ignored because they were simply parents in denial, and, it goes without saying, that michael could justify his total lack of love and compassion for Terri, his total denial of offering her any therapy or testing or outings into the sunshine, or visits from friends, etc., by keeping her in a hospice, recognized by all of us, as a place where terminally ill people are helped to pass over.
It is against the laws of the hospice foundation to hasten death or accept non terminally ill patients.
Terri was neither...but she survived in that house of death for almost FIVE YEARS.

It is astounding and extremely hurtful at the same time to consider the fraud and contempt and trashing and abuse that michael schiavo and felos and mary labyak laid upon this human being.
The legal posture is that the natural death by starvation was exactly the patient's wishes, and the patient's wishes are what render the patient legally terminal.
Nope.
No one.
Besides...michael never allowed terri swallowing tests after he got the money....maybe SHE DID NOT NEED THE TUBE....we will never know.
Michael has effectively seen to that...may he have to hide away in his hole forever....living a worse life than he laid upon Terri....forever.
It is a conflict of interest for the attorney representing Michael Schiavo to also serve as a board member to the medical facility providing her care. After all, as the pig's attorney, he had a vested interest in making Terri appear as unresponsive as possible. As a member of the board, he could have brought pressure to bear to make that happen.
But, the decision is within the law, and was upheld by both the Florida and Federal court systems. The factual detrmination, once made, is very hard to reverse.
I won't defend the outcome. I think it is indefensible on several levels. But it is what it is, and accurately represents, I think, the sense of justice present in our court and legislative systems.
If what you say is true, it would seem that Felos' position on the board only helped MS's case. That isn't a conflict of interest.

*Husband* ordered NO light (shades down at all times,) NO music or TV, No basic dental/oral hygiene care (resulting in the pulling and FALLING OUT of her TEETH,) NO doctor ordered/highly recommended antibiotics (*husband* over-rode doctor's orders,) No BASIC circulatory, occupational, speech, or swallow therapy, NO flowers, and NO outdoor experience. FOR YEARS. NOTHING. NOTHING.
And is it common knowledge that lack of adequate dental/oral care/hygiene is a HUGE invite to a whole HOST of INFECTIONS.
*Husband* ordered BOTH no oral care AND no needed/recommended antibiotics for infections that Terri had.
It all sickens me.
