On Monday, March 28, 2005, at 5:30 P.M., an emergency protest demonstration/prayer vigil will take place in Times Square in New York City (near the military recruiting station). Citizens outraged and traumatized by the in-progess execution of Terri Schindler-Schiavo in a Pinellas Park, Florida, death hospice will gather to protest in the name of conscience against this murder, which is being carried out by the U.S. judicial system with the complicity of many in government and the public. We intend to plead for the life of an innocent woman who is being put to death for the crime of being disabled.
In addition to praying for Terri and our endangered nation, we plan to implore President George W. Bush and Florida Governor Jeb Bush to order federal marshals and Florida National Guard troops to take Terri into protective custody so that her feeding tube may be restored and her life saved. We are demanding that the President and Jeb Bush act immediately to prevent the commission of what will be one of the most horrific crimes in history.
It was my understanding that family members have said that she has reached a point of no return. So, even if the tube was reinserted - it would be too late to reverse the severe damage to her organs.
This is my first time writing about anything on here, but this case really gets to me and I am sure it does a lot of people..... I have made a decision that I would never want to live the way Terri is living right now. i am only 25, but have had a living will for 2 years... The reason was because i had to make the decision to take my husband who was 27 off of life support. It is a very hard decision to make, but now I can't stress enough on how important it is to have for your family... RIP Gregory R. Fleming 1976-2003
SO sorry. So very sorry for your loss.
Please make sure the wording of your 'living' will express your exact intent in no uncertain terms. Don't just use a form.
Bump.
You cant be serious. Plus Jeb bush has ZERO buisness sending troops into the hospice to take Terri Schiavo out.
Most horific crimes in history? While I salute the protest, you lose credibility by making such a stupid statement.
I expect Terri to be dead by morning. Judge Greer will see to it. This protest was needed last Monday.
I've made over a dozen posts on this topic, including the authority to use the National Guard.. I'm to busy to reply to your comments, do a search on my name or something if you want a reply -- I've gave plenty out already...
Anyway, yes. Michael has won, sort of. She'll die very soon.
What's happening is cold-blooded murder and it's impossible for me believe that it's going on in this country that fought and won against communists and nazis. Didn't they do the same thing to their disabled?

Anyone who has power over this decision should have the grace to forgo food and water themselves until Terri dies. This would include Michael, the judges, the police who are 'guarding' Terri against an 'assault' of food and water provided by her parents.
Remember that old experiment about the college students who were allowed to punish subjects who they had wired up to electric shocks? How the punisher escalated their punishments very quickly?
Would they have done so if they had to take the shock equally with their victim?
it's impossible for me believe...
it's impossible for me to believe. Been a long day trying to figure what's going on with this insanity coming from our court system.
bump
My wife and I will be there. It's the least we can do. Prayer is the most we can do, and anyone who can't make it should be praying.
"It was my understanding that family members have said that she has reached a point of no return. So, even if the tube was reinserted - it would be too late to reverse the severe damage to her organs."
My understanding is that their attorney said something like she was beyond recovery and then the Schindler's , Through spokesman Terry Randall, quickly contradicted his statement. I am pretty sure the source was Newsmax.
UUgggghhhhh. I think its Randal Terry.

Sorry for your loss.
Taking someone off of life support vs stopping G tube feedings to an otherwise self-sustaining human being--they are in two separate classes. On top of the fact that there is credible testimony she could, at least at a prior time, receive jello and water by mouth.
Wow, that's interesting. Thanks for that update.
The conflict may be that she was given communion after all, and the family had said that it would not be done until her death was imminent.
I started writing agains euthanasia in 1988, when the New England Journal started pushing it...
I hate to be sarcastic, but you guys should have worried about this during the Cruzan case...
The word "crime" may not apply here (since the action is at the direction of the Court), but the term "horrific" does apply, IMHO. There is no good reason on Earth why gardianship could not have been transferred to the parents who could have tried to help her to their heart's content.
It's wrong but I just get amazed at the lack of proportion by some. Sorry, this does not even come close to being one of the "most horrific crimes in history".
Ask Chris Slattery to point me out to you--I'd love to meet you.
And to call for the enactment of protective legislation for the brain-damaged--at least that's what my sign will say
It can still be classified as a crime in a larger context. This was exactly what was found in trying the defendants at Nuremberg. Everything those people who were found guilty of crimes against humanity in that case did in Germany was "legal" under the laws of the German Reich. But the "vee vere only following zee law, honorable tribunal" defense didn't work then, and it won't work now.
History shows us that at times we have recognized that there is a higher law, but in this case, just like in 1930-1945 Germany, the legal authorities chose to ignore it and go their own way. They, and the German nation, paid a terrible price for their sins. I think it likely that this country will pay a dear price, in the end, for these actions of killing innocent persons.
The murder of Terri Schiavo, an innocent person, based on the (conflicted) word of another, taken as decisive hearsay evidence in a de facto, civil capital trial, enabled by a court of this land, certainly isn't the first, and won't be the last of the butchery and horrors to be committed in this country, which has become so enamored and blinded by being in love with the legal "process", that it has forgotten and semblance of justice, compassion, and humanity. Like the Nazi machine, it grinds on, taking it's bloody toll, day after day, year after year. The Nazis ended up with the blood of six million on their hands. We're going on 50 million dead in this country from abortion alone. You think the death of one more person will awaken the sheeple from their moral slumber, or make a difference to the death machine in this culture of death? I think not.
