What happened to Hanscom AFB?
That one is still active.....
and so is Pease, which I thought was in New Hampshire....
Well, I do know that there is now commercial aviation using Hanscom. Not sure what military if any, remains.
Pease shut down in 1991. It's a air national guard base now.

As far as I know it still is, since that (on-base) is where we've got our bank account. Pease AFB, I believe, was moth-balled many, many moons ago.

Hanscom doesn't have a runway that the Air Force could use except for the very small executive planes. It is only there because of the Kennedy's and MITRE people refuse to transfer. Should have been closed years ago.
Hanscomb doesn't have an active flightline.
My earlier post was incorrect, I stand corrected another post.
"What happened to Hanscom AFB?"
According to rumors in MA and the Boston Globe, Hanscom AFB will very likely be gone, as well.
Hanscom AFB is located in an upscale suburban area outside Boston, and the real estate is worth hundreds of millions. The Pentagon wants the money from selling it. The DOD might maintain research facilities in a civilian office park on the base (to coordinate with nearby MIT), but the base seems likely to be closed, as well.
I don't see any reason to be closing so many bases when homeland security is so important.
Between base closings and border security, this administration is starting to remind me of the Clintons. Hopefully, they will prove me wrong by not closing these bases.
