Why on Earth is my question not valid? Just because you don't want to answer it, does not make it outlandish. But nobody has answered it. Because when our taxes are raised because of this, you and everyone here would be the first to start complaining about it. I'm just waiting for one person to honestly say, Yes, I would gladly pay more taxes so we can keep everyone alive. How come not one person has said this?

OK, I'll bite. Although there should be other ways to do this, I do believe when all else fails, it is society's moral, ethical and Judeo-Christian duty to help the weak and unfortunate. It could come from private charities, the families themselves, a non-profit group, religious group, etc., but if someone falls through the holes, then it is up to society at large. If it means tax revenue has to pay for it, well, I see no other way so I would have to answer your question as a "yes."

I know I'm very conservative on social, military, religious and most other issues although I see myself more as an economic moderate. I do believe in a social safety net, but it should be a "hand up," not a "hand out" but we have a mess today that generally encourages free-loading where a lot of blame can go around from the recipients to the system itself.

Still though, it can be seen as a loaded question, IIRC, the insurance money and the money from the court case were to be used to care for Terri and it does seem to me her parents do have the means as well.

What is offensive? Why is your question loaded for argument not enlightenment? ... When you use terms like 'everyone', you immediately frame the question in the extreme, for you, even you, realize the issue isn't to save 'everyone' for there are categories of brain dead who would not be included yet you arbitrarily toss them into the issue for the argumentative potential. Well, perhaps the money could have been put in the account to draw interest, hopefully that will slow the depletion down if there are no gains to be made. I figured that even if I had to don the asbestos underwear, I decided to give an answer on how I honestly feel and think about the situation.
