That is what I have been saying. Terri is not the issue. Terri is merely the pawn. The issue is whether or not a court[judge] can order an individual that has not committed a crime put to death and get away with it. As of this point in time, the answer is that they can. And the reality is , if they can order Terri put to death, they can order anyone. All they will have to do is manufacture circumstances or facts to suit their purpose.

This bears repeating until everybody in the United States gets it.

Nothing about this case makes any sense. How is it possible for the courts to deny a person food and water???

The big slippery-slope problem here is that the court has ordered Terri be put to death by slow starvation because, in the court's opinion she is severely brain damaged, and assumes that she would not want to live that way. The court only has her husband's hearsay that she wanted it.

Once the precedent is established, how can you stop its use against the severely retarded? Alsheimer patients who become inconvenient to their heirs? People who are just too old and feeble to care for themselves without help.
