Too bad Jeb doesn't have a living will for his political career.

After 11 days state sponsored torture depriving an innocent woman of water...and food

She finally found her voice?

Better late than never but why now?

I think government should get involved in the lives of the millions of overweight Americans.

Nice.

Really nice.

I don't know what is more disgusting. People cheering Terri's Death, or people who hate the Reps for not being God.

Thank you Mrs. Bush.

Why hell, even Jesse Jackson sees the truth on this one. This is the only time I can ever remember agreeing with Jesse on anything.

" First lady Laura Bush said Tuesday the government was right to have intervened in the case of Terri Schiavo, a severely brain-damaged Florida woman whose case has stirred national debate about life and death issues.

"I just feel like the federal government has to be involved," Mrs. Bush said. "It is a life issue that really does require government to be involved." "

Yeah, Terri really benefitted from GW and the gang in Washinton stepping in....could they have made bigger fools of themselves? I think not.

GW and Jeb failed to protect Terri. There should have been a little less talk and a lot more action. I am so ashamed of their actions and I have always been proud to call GW my president...until now.

This is a sad time in American history when we not only let a man murder his brain-damaged wife, but the judiciary steps in and helps him. As far as I am concerned MS and Greer should be charged with murder as soon as Terri dies!

First lady Laura Bush said Tuesday the government was right to have intervened in the case of Terri Schiavo

Yes Laura, it was right that the government intervened BUT it was wrong that it failed so miserably.

The action by congress gave nothing more than false hope to the Schindler family and many more of us who do not want to have a court sentence an innocent lady to death.

The law was broken when Judge Greer ordered Mrs Schiavo's feeding tune disconnected and disallowed any feeding through her mouth. Your husband is apparently OK with that and his brother Jeb is apparently OK with that? I am not OK with that. There are too many extenuating circumstances in this case that should have removed Michael Schiavo as Terri's guardian. There was potential abuse that might have caused Terri's injury. There was use of hearsay testimony to conclude what Terri would have wanted. The judge had a conflict of interest in that he accepted campaign contributions from Michael Schiavo's lawyers. Michael Schiavo has a conflict of interest in that he has his hands on Terri's money and, worse, has established a new household with another lady with which he has had two kids.A nurse who cared for Terri said last week that she saw needle injection marks under Terri's arm, breast, and groin and an empty vial of insulin in the waste basket after Michael left Terri's room. Michael stated to nurses on several occasions, "when is that bitch going to die." And more, and more, and more...

No, I am not OK with what your husband and congress did! I am not OK with what little Jeb did. And, to borrow a term that was overused by another political has-been, I am deeply saddened to say that I was witness to the governmental starving to death of an innocent woman!!!

"I just feel like the federal government has to be involved," Mrs. Bush said. "It is a life issue that really does require government to be involved."

Well, Laura, no disprespect intended, but I didn't elect you, and quite frankly I don't care what you "feel" the government should be involved in. I didn't when Clinton was First Lady (I use that term loosely) and not with you either.

Thanks for your opinion though, Mrs. Bush.

God bless our First Lady. Yes, the government was right to intervene. If we don't protect the life of the least of us, none of us is safe. It may not be a popular thing to do, judging by the polls, but it IS the right thing to do. Do the right thing and the politics will sort itself out. For those unwilling to take a principled stand here, Dante assigned their likes a place in Limbo. Those who in their lives would not take a stand either for good or against evil. We need such fickle people like we need enemies.

Michael ... contending his 41-year-old wife, who has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990

And STILL the AP presents the disputed items as facts.

I'm glad she stepped out and made a statement like this.

The perfect spokesperson.

And she cuts Hillary and Co. off at the knees. I mean nobody knows where Hillary is on Terri Schiavo. She went into hiding.

Never forget! Jeb Bush was the last man to turn his back on Terri in her greatest time of need . . . and he walked away. Never forget.

Here is a thought that I hope will be considered even by those who agree that Jeb and W have done all that they could within the law.

Michael Schiavo last week invited both the President and the Governor to visit his wife. I think they should go.

And bring her water.

Some argue that the Governor would be dangerously disrupting the balance of powers between the branches of government if he took executive action. Arresting him for bringing water would be such a breech as well, but it would be by those serving the court.

Fifty have already been arrested trying to bring Terri water. Go, Mr President. Go, Governor. Bring her water. And bring your wives along, too.

"I'm sorry for the family that it has to be so public."

Read: this story should have been swept under the rug. It is giving our politicians a lot of headaches.

Does she actually talk to Jeb or her husband directly on this? What's the problem?

It would seem ridiculous in the extreme that this women should die with Laura Bush standing around saying, "Well, the government should have intervened." It will be too late.
