Mexican Military on Standby in Response to Minutemen (Fox sending in the Military?)

Mexico's President Vicente Fox is preparing to respond militarily to a group of U.S volunteers who plan to patrol the U.S.-Mexican border starting tomorrow, positioning more than a thousand troops nearby, according to an Arizona TV station.

"The Mexican military is on stand-by," reports NBC's Tucson affiliate KVOA. "One unit has about a thousand soldiers. They're located just across the border." Over the last week spokesmen for the border patrol volunteers, who dub themselves Minutemen, have said they will not attempt to detain Mexican illegals, but rather report them to the Border Patrol and track them till they're apprehended.

Despite the assurances, Mexican officials met with the mayor of Douglas, Arizona on Tuesday to discuss how they will handle potential violence, KVOA said.

Last week President Fox warned at a Mexico City press conference:

"We totally reject the idea of these migrant-hunting groups. We will use the law, international law and even U.S. law to make sure these types of groups, which are a minority, will not have any opportunity to progress."

Vincente, Please, please, please send your troops accross our borders in force, just once. Please. It will be the last time you do.

The sad thing is that if they did cross our border, our legislators might not respond. They might say the Mexicans were justified.

No kidding! Is the Mexican government REALLY that stupid?

I know, I know... it's a rhetorical question... of course they are.

Look, the worst possible thing for us to do is beat Mexico in a war.

Could we at least take control of the Yucatan? That would be a nice part of Mexico to be in U.S. posession. :-)

One thing I'm sure of, the Mexican troops are not going to control the border.

As this thing gets deeper and deeper the president is going to lose support, which I think is sad. He needs to add a border control aspect to his plan so that he can make the migrants comply with law. The sad part is that when you turn on Bush you'll get a democrat who will let more in illegally.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, El Presidente...

There a more than a few military bases in the southwest which could take care of this situation. Fort Hood in Texas for one.

Will a Texas Minuteman please fly this flag to remind the Mexican army about another war they once lost about 170 years ago?

If that bastard Fox keeps this up, I may take my pittance of vacation time, and go down there myself. I sure wish we had a president of our own.

Those guys are true patriots for standing up to this absurdity. If anything happens to them I think we need to revisit the halls of Montezuma.

Impossible. Bush is on Mexico's side.

So, Vincente is going to send troop to ensure that his people are able to violate our Nation's sovereignty. This sounds like an act of war to me.

The second largest import to his country is the U.S. Dollar. It is the only thing keeping his country from being bankrupt. Build a big wall, kick out all of the illegals, and let Mexico be as bankrupt financially as it is morally.

The Mexican military has already been across our border, on several occasions. Haven't seen anything done yet.

How about the law that says stay in your own country and you do not cross the border without proper paperwork?

Maybe someone should suggest to Fox that if he would enforce his laws and keep people from illegally entering the US he wouldn't have any problems with the Minutemen. He should spend a bit more time making his own country more tolerable for his citizens and stay out of our business!!
