Heads Up! Sen. Cornyn's speech on filibusters.. a barn burner.. repeated on C-span 2 at 10PM est.

Posted on 04/04/2005 6:32:16 PM PDT by ken5050

I didn't see it today, but apparently Sen Cornyn gave a real stem-winder on the Senate floor today, talking about the Dem filabusters. He seems to be indicating that GOP action is coming very soon to stop it. Just saw that C-span 2 wil be repeating it from 10-10:35 EST tonite.. Worth setting the VRC for, to see after the NCAA game is over..

I had no idea when we elected him that he was going to be so good! I have been so pleased.

This must be the case, because I saw a "commercial" earlier today (put out by People For The American Way) asking us to call our reps to stand for the pro-filibuster status quo.

I did too, on FNC.

Also they are running anti-Bolton ads beginning today. They are principally running in two states: Nebraska (Hagel) and Rhode Island (Chaffee). Hagel has already said he will vote for Bolton and Chaffee says he is inclined to support him.

If you can't scare Lincoln Chaffee, you are wasting a lot of money. LOL!

One of things that Cornyn points out in his speech is the fact that the dems have rented a 2400 sq. ft. room, with 84 staffers, plus TV ads to try to stop a change that THEY made in the first place....

You know what I think would be funny, there was an interview with Robert Byrd right before the break, and he was bragging about knowing the Constitution inside and out, and they are even printing up mini-Constitutions to pass out to voters....

Anyway, he said that it is NOT in the Const. that there HAS to even be a vote for a judical nominee to get confirmed. Therefore, what the Reps should do, is just put up the "controversial" judges names on forms with 51 senators signatures saying that with their "advice and consent", these judges pass muster....

Wouldn't THAT let the air out of those dem clowns!

He was absolutely in top form and if Senator Byrd didn't get the little dig, perhaps one of his sycophants will post it inside his little leather bound constitution.

Right now Grover Norquist is in a press conference with some other people and is advocating Byrd's option.

The NY Times ran a long article yesterday, too, praising Senator Sheets Byrd for his defense of the filibuster. There was a great quote from Rick Santorum pointing out how hypocritical Byrd is on this issue.

I turned it to the press conference just in time to see that one of the speakers is Manuel Miranda---the one that got fired for finding out about the unethical ways the dems were going to keep Bush's judge from getting confirmed---

He also has been Black listed all over the Northeast in the law firms by the lawyers in the Dem. Senate--they have put out the word not to hire Miranda....

Oh, how I wish they would do what Byrd said before the break and not even ask for a vote, just turn in a paper with the names on it, with the Senate backers...

I note how the press is whining about this and is definitely on the Rat side.

Yeah, the press is so transparent---

I made a mistake when I told Common Tator that John Cornyn made the remark about the 2400 sq ft room and staffers---it was here in this press conference that I heard it---So, I am sorry...

I know one thing, I am glad that Kay Daly is on "our" side, I would hate to watch her make points for the dems, she is forceful!!! lol

The republicans are wimps. They're always "really close" to taking drastic action. When the heck are they going to do it? Why not tomorrow?
