Wedding brawl ends in arrest

By Maria J. Flora maria@jrpress.com

A wedding day brawl ended in the groom being hauled to jail still kicking, police said. Police were twice called to the Ramada Limited where the arguing couple was spending their wedding night last week, according to court records.

Angela Tripp was still in her wedding dress when police arrived, Crawfordsville Police Lt. Harvey Barton said in a probable cause affidavit. Her husband Travis R. Lee, 30, was wearing jeans and offered their ripped-in-half marriage license as identification, Barton said.

Angela’s neck was red and she told police Travis hit and choked her after, but she would not sign a statement, according to court records.

The couple visited a friend’s house after their wedding, but Travis left the house, Barton said. Angela went drinking at two downtown bars and later found Travis at the friend’s house, according to court records.

Barton said Lee punched him in the face then fought the six officers who tried to subdue him. Lee refused to walk and had to be carried to the squad car, where he continued to fight, according to court records. Police said they had to drag him from the car into the jail.

Barton reported that in all, Travis: hit and spit on Barton, kicked Crawfordsville Police Corporal Neil Barclay’s inner thigh, kicked Officer David Long’s chest and fought Montgomery County Officers Grant Snyder and Chad Kendricks.

Travis is charged in Montgomery County Superior Court with: battery on a law enforcement officer, battery by bodily waste, resisting law enforcement and two counts of resisting law enforcement, causing injury.

Actually, I think they'll stay together. This is normal for them. She's probably already forgiven him and wants him out of jail. They'll have a passionate reunion and it will last until they get drunk and beat each other up and the process will start all over again.

If you spent your wedding night cruising bars, you might be a redneck.

I got married two months ago and on our wedding night our car was broken into and my wife's purse was stolen.

"...Police were twice called to the Ramada Limited..."

This story is sadly amusing. Glad you posted it. I have some cousins and friends who live in the area.

Off topic:

Whatever you do, don't stay at a Ramada Limited. Ramada Limited's have to be the worst motels in the world. They are not connected to Ramada other than by name only. They are usually in receivership, with the local bank turning over operations to management companies running them with low paid, untrained staff.

"If anyone here present has reason why Angela and Travis should not be locked up together, speak now..."

I'm sure Dr. Phil has put out an APB for these two already.
The May book is only three weeks away...

LOL Sure. Why not.

When I said that they'd stay together, I didn't consider the possibility that they might kill each other rather than getting a divorce. Does that change anything?

"Angela's neck was red. . ."

Understatement of the year.

There's no way I can top that, so I'll just sit here and applaud.

So she went out drinking, after the wedding, without her husband, but still in her wedding dress? Then when they met up back at the Ramada, they got into a fight and he ripped the marriage license in half?

Yep, they might be rednecks.

LOL - I guess we should factor that in. Also factor in the time before he gets out of the clink for this little stunt too. I'm guessing that as soon as he gets out, he'll revert back to form and that'll be that.
