Colusa Jury Convicts Cop Killer

April 5, 2005

COLUSA --

A Colusa County jury has convicted the man accused of killing a Red Bluff police officer in 2002.

The jury took only about 30 minutes to deliberate the case before returning a guilty verdict against Andrew Mickel. Mickel, 26, who defended himself, admitted in the past to shooting Dave Mobilio as the officer refueled his car on Nov. 19, 2002.

Since the shooting, Mickel has said in Internet postings and media interviews, that he shot the officer to protest police brutality.

Mickel had told jurors in his opening statement that he would fill in the gaps of the prosecution's case and present the whole truth when he testified. He could still testify during the penalty phase of his trial, which begins Wednesday.

And it only took them three years. "Speedy trial", indeed...

The jury took only about 30 minutes to deliberate the case before returning a guilty verdict ......

Basically, in his opening statement, he CONFESSED to the jury before the prosecution even had a chance to put on its case!!! I'm surprised it too the jury this long .... :)

So, we still don't know what his fabled "defense" is?

Well, yeah. We now know why he did it. According to him, it was done out of "patriotism". There is more here

He admitted he killed that policeman. Any effort on his part to paint that policeman as a symbolic representative of the whole group fails as an argument. I don't care about his complaints about policemen.

When all is said and done he took a life and should pay for it. He's a cop killer.

Take an unstable human being, pump him full of left-wing lies and hatred...and you get a remorseless murderer like Mickel.

Somehow, I doubt he is the only one of his ilk out there...
