Firefox won't Open today: Anyone else having problems?

Posted on 04/07/2005 5:20:26 AM PDT by Timeout

I've been using Firefox, trouble-free, for about 8 months. Suddenly today I can't open it. I've run my anti virus programs.

Last night a Yahoo tool somehow hijacked my search engine. When I would search on Google, the results came up with this Yahoo tool. I can't open FF to get the name, but it's icon is "CC" enclosed in a circle. Might this have something to do with the problems I'm now encountering?

Anyone else having problems this morning?

I would run Spybot and CwShredder. Sound like adware trouble to me. You can download both these tools from www.zdnet.com

I use Firefox every day and never had had a problem. You've been hijacked.

Welcome to spyware. I thought Firefox was relatively immune, but apparently not. You may find yourself blocked from sites that provide spyware eliminators. Good Luck.

I'm using Firefox right now and have had no problems, but I did download an update last week because a vulnerability had been discovered. My current version is 1.0.2, so I'd suggest you check your version and if not updated, download the new version on Internet Exploer and then install. The new version will transfer all your settings and bookmarks from the old version. Good luck.

You might want to go online and do a search for "Hijack This" and get rid of the hijacking problem. Here's another idea:
download the new firefox release, remove your Firefox, reboot and then load the newest version.

Do a google for: hijackthis.exe and run it. Also get the free version of AdAware and run that. It shouldn't be too big of a deal to get rid of the hijacker.

When is someone gonna make a "Sky Pilot" theme for the Firefox 1.0?

Could be just a broken link, try clicking on the actual Firefox executable, firefox.exe.

Yesterday, my husband's computer stopped running Mozilla...so after running Scan Disk and Ad Aware, I just downloaded the latest from Mozila, and it's working just fine now.

Sometimes, reinstalling is the fastest fix.
