Finland wants wolf hunt (Norway)

Finland wants wolf hunt

Finland has appealed to the European Union for permission to kill wolves that cause problems for their human population.

A Finnish delegation lead by EU parliamentarian Henrix Lax asked the EU's environment commissioner Stavros Dimas for the right to shoot wolves and presented a petition signed by 21,000 Finns, newspaper Dagsavisen reports.

The EU Commission ruled in January that Finland would stand trial for their wolf hunt.

Lax said that it was incomprehensible that Finland's EU membership meant that citizens had to live in fear of wolves," Finnish Broadcasting YLE reported.

Yeah, this wolf is waiting for all the pulchtritudinous ladies from the Norway ping list to show up.

Just kidding, madam.

Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up.

Oh, I think they already do that. I think this is more of a request for a large organized hunt. I'll have to check it out.

Here's how "PC" my family is. LOL! Some of my relatives in Finland are mink farmers. They've been battling the "wolves" of the PETA types for years.

OMG. I can envision it now. I know the very area in Brussels, and the thought of your suggestion brings such a funny and surprising (to them,) visual. "Big sausage sandwiches." LOL.

Sovereignty is a terrible thing to waste.

I agree, sir, and one has to commend the Norwegians for staying out of the European Union, steadfastly maintaining their own natural sovereignty--even though it has cost them.

Because Norway got right on board with us in the war against terror, and because Norway remains outside of the European Union, the old men of Old Europe have extracted vengeance in all sorts of ways, usually political isolation, absurdly high tariffs on Norwegian goods, and somesuch.

Let the rest of EU attack Finland. They stalemated the Russkies in 1939.

It's an "inside joke" on the Norway ping list, just like about the (real) bison in Norway.

About one-third of the Norway ping list consists of authentic Norwegians actually in Norway, for whom English is a second, third, or fourth language, and once in a while it is great fun to throw an obscure English word their way.

(To those authentic Norwegians, NO, these are not words you really need to know, to know English; you can get by perfectly fine without them.)

"Pulchtritudinous" = exquisitely beautiful

AWESOME spec. And I'll be right behind you out on that limb, franksolich. I get the SAME feeling in taking note of the dynamics on the ground there.

I wonder how long it will take the Finns to figure out that they are no longer a country, but only a mere province of the EU? The fact that they have to ask the EU for permission to hunt wolves on their own territory is insane. They have abandoned their sovereignty.

Mount Athos, you mean to tell us that Finland is even a province?

Just kidding of course...I think. :-)

It's not "woah" is it? It's "whoa," huh? But you guys are just too kind to not correct me. And I do it ALL the time. I'm having trouble with everything lately. GOSH. :-)

I need me some remedial, Viking learnin'. :-)

Please do NOT send those wolves after me (I don't even have one of those "big sausage sandwiches.")

Hi frank! My friend in Finland said that the wolves they get are mostly imports from Russia (border crossing). I couldn't believe that the entire country actually has to stand trial for wolf hunting (which she confirmed for me). That is ludicrous!! The EU is one messed up place.
