...and a sea Capitan and notorious pirate.

you can tell by the parrot...

No, that's the new student body president at NCSU right across the street from Meredith.

Just about all the vets I know don't brag, and the combat pilots I know hardly discuss their service.

Heck, I talk about my experiences all the time. Of course folks know it's coming because I try to start off with, "This is no $h!t, there I was . . . "

What, are you kidding? My Army buddies and I, who almost single handedly beat the Koreans after the VC nuked Pearl Harbor, can't get enough of the bragging.

"Decorated with 10 medals after only a couple months should have raised an alarm, if the Meredith officials had any familiarity with our military."

You're kidding, right? After this last election, I never underestimate the American public's stupidity when it comes to the military (obviously referring to John Kerry racking up a chestful after four months.....and not just ANY medals at that...and sooooooo many falling for it).

One of the medals she wore, according to the indictment, was the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, which is awarded to those who served from Dec. 7, 1941 -- when Pearl Harbor was attacked -- until Nov. 8, 1945.

Hah!

I'm sure she said her name was Captain (now Lt Col) Carter. Saving the US and planet week after week.

If military service is all that it takes, I want my tuition waived too.

"We understand she has a drug habit," Perry said... The judge forbade her from possessing any illegal narcotics.

Uhhh. Where do I start?

Isn't that already illegal?

All the idiot college would have needed to prove her service was a DD214 ... which you'd think some idiot in the admissions and scholarshiop office would have requested in return for waiving $42,000 in tuition. What kind of loose ship are they running there, anyway? Sheesh.

BTW- suitable punishment- send this young lady to Afghanistan for a year to launder fatigues and serve MRE's.

Of course, that just goes without saying. I mean who could even QUESTION it?

Do you think all those German planes just shot THEMSELVES out of the sky?

In a related story she also claimed that she was taught her combat skills by Amelia Erhart and Annie Oakley who were also brought forward through time but Amelia was lost due to a time-machine malfuntion.

Amelia was cast 30,000 years in the past and became the mother-founder of the modern human genetic line.

Lisa Jane Phillips is currently spending her time in the company of two former Magistrates named Cane and Grant. The trio spends time battling a time traveling being known only as Thrush.

I could go on but a Man In Black is threatening me with a Vogon Kill-O-Zap gun.

On Friday, Phillips was arrested on a dozen federal charges

the most serious of which was impersonating a United States Senator.

Yeah, guys will tell war stories over a few beers, but not make up bullshit like this dimbo, because they don't have to.

My experience, though, with my Grandfathers (both WWII) My uncles & dad (one a huey pilot like you, LP) and my cousins (one in GWI, one Iraqi freedom) is that they really don't discuss their experiences. They also don't brag, because they don't need to.

I have tried to get their stories on tape for a library of confgress project, but no one would really discuss things. It must be a family trait.

My huey pilot uncle did related his "worst day of my life story" that will top anything I could ever run into, so i am grateful every day that no matter how bad thing seem to me, it won't be as bad as the worst day he's experienced.

She had 14 purple hearts, 6 medals of honor, 4 sea service ribbons, and a Napoleonic Legion of Service

...not to mention three Victoria Crosses, a Civil War Campaign Medal, the Iron Cross, the Special Decoration for Veterans of the Chaco War, and the Order of Lenin. Hell, she musta looked like freaking Idi Amin, all decked out like that - more decorations on this broad than a friggin christmas tree.

You'd be amazed at how dumb (and lazy) governmental entities are. First, they probably have NO clue what a DD 214 is. Second, if they do, they're too lazy to look.

Years ago, when Liz Holzmann was the DA in Brooklyn, they caught a guy who did 8 bank robberies. His defense? Deranged Viet Nam vet (Oh, the humanity!) They give him a not responsible by reason of insanity plea. Just before the date the judge is going to send our boy off to the rubber room, they FINASLLY order his DD 214. Turns out he was a serviceman -0 an Air Force pay clerk who spent his entire military career at Lackland A.F.B in Texas. The judge was not amused.

Not to mention the eye-patch and the wooden leg...

Which reminds me of a sea story ...

A Pirate's Bad Day

A pirate walked into a bar and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible."

"What do you mean?" said the pirate, "I feel fine."

"What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before."

"Well, we were in a battle and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I'm fine now."

"Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?"

"We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook. I'm fine, really."

"What about that eye patch?"

"Oh, one day we were at sea and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up and one of them s**t in my eye."

"You're kidding," said the bartender, "you couldn't lose an eye just from some bird s**t."

"It was my first day with the hook."

You are right on target.

The real heros don't talk about it because those situations are exceptionally painful to remember. A few beers will loosen them up a bit, but you don't see them strutting about with their medals.

I have met real heros, and got to know them well. They did incredible things is horrendous situations. The medal is but a slight compensation for a memory that will only stop tormenting them once in the grave.

On the other hand, I got one of my medals, a Bronze Star, for no good reason that I can think of. I am embarrassed to talk about it. I was trying to refuse it back then, but was threatened with 'non-judicial punishment' if I did not show up to get it from General whatshisname. It never made sense to me, but then a lot of things in Vietnam did not make sense to me.

The more loudly someone talks about his/her wartime exploits, the more likely they are to be a wannabe. At least that has been my experience.
