No ban on Malay Bible, says Msian PM (Christians Can't spread the word of God to the Muslims)

The Bible in Malay edition won't be restricted by the Government, said Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. However, Christians must ensure that they will never spread the word of God to the Muslims.

He said the Bible in Malay edition must emphasize this its cover to show that the book was not meant for the Muslims.

"We have never put it on the list of banned books. It is sold in the bookstores or churches." Abdullah told a press conference Tuesday.

When he was previously the Deputy Prime Minister, Abdullah held a meeting with all the representatives of Christian associations representatives on the issue.

"I told them then that they can have the Malay edition and the Government would not place it on the list of banned books. But the condition is that they must highlight that the book is not for Muslims' reading," he said.

Abdullah gave the explanation following previous "confusing" statements from a Cabinet minister.

Sounds to me like a good way to ensure that people DO read it.

The one true way to silence the truth - outlaw free speach and competition of ideas.

And we see how well that worked for the Soviet Union.

I really don't like Benny Hinn but it was interesting to see all the Malaysians, Indonesians, and Chinese at his recent event in Singapore. In fact I don't think people in Singapore are even allowed to have satellite dishes so even those people had to stream it from the Internet.

The libs are always crying about theocracy whenever Republicans get elected, but they sure don't seem to have a lot to say about these *actual* theocracies.

God's law is higher than man's. Jesus told His followers to go and make disciples of all nations (peoples), so that is what they will do with or without the permission of governments, and regardless of the consequences.

This is actually a fairly standard approach to lay Muslims having access to other religion's scriptural texts.

The explanation given to me by a Muslim friend is that there is a hadith (saying of the Prophet Mohammed) were a companion of the prophet comes into possession of a Christian bible and begins to read it. After reading it for sometime, the companion mentions to Mohammed that it contains a lot of interesting passages. Mohammed supposedly scolds his companion stating that he shouldn't read it because the Christians have their revelation from God, Muslims have their own separate revelation and that Muslims should stick to theirs. To do otherwise would create confusion in the minds of believers.

I bet more non-Christians will read those Bibles *with* those warnings than would read them *without* those warnings. Something about the sin nature of man - just kinda makes us want to do those things doesn't it? Works in God's favor here. :-)

In Malaysia, it is illegal for a Muslim to convert to other faith. This kind of thing, unofortunately, doesn't seem to bother the liberals.

as a Christian, I do not fear any other religion preaching their beliefs to me or other Christians. I am rock solid and if others are not, then I challenge their faith in the first place. Yet, most other religions are scared stiff of Christians preaching to their fold. Why? Because the WORD OF GOD is all powerful.

"Muslims mustn't read this book!" I think the Christians have scored a great one here on reverse psychology.

So the words of Baallah can't stand on their own, and need a murderous mob to enforce his teachings on the helpless illiterate.
Sounds less and less like a real religion, and more and more like a psychotic psychopathic paranoid people eater.

ABC CBS NBC CNN its all the SAME, Propaganda.
Might as well call them all AmeriJazerra.

SO long as it's Christianity to which the door is barred, the liberals are wild with pleasure.

as good as the 'dance of the seven veils,' what is taboo --- often becomes an 'I must have it' obsession.

No, actually he belongs to the moderate-to-conservative faction of Islam (by far the largest branch of the religion) who simply wants to be respected, be treated fairly, make a good living for his family through his hard work, and live in peace and safety with his neighbors.

Like followers of all religions, there are parts of his scriptures (the Koran, Hadith, and Sunna) that make him extremely uncomfortable when trying to square them with living in a modern, democratic, multicultural state like the United States. Now, if you pin him down, he will say that IF PERFECTLY IMPLEMENTED IN A PERFECTED SOCIETY, the Sharia should govern human interaction. (He says this in the way that some Christians talk about relations among early Christians in the primative church as described in ACTS.) In the next breath, he acknowledges that no society is free of corruption simply because humans by nature are fallible and prone to sin. He also believes that, because of this tendency toward less than virtuous conduct, government should not be dominated by the ideology of one religion or another.
