Express train derails after colliding with truck in Ibaraki

An express train derailed Tuesday after colliding with a truck at a crossing near Hatori Station on the Joban Line in Ibaraki Prefecture, East Japan Railway Co. said.

No passengers were injured, JR East said. The truck driver sustained minor injuries, according to the police.

I'm reading that a JR East Japan limited express train hit a truck at a crossing near a station in Ibaraki Prefecture, the truck driver sustained injuries, and the train may have derailed (seems to be a minor collision by the reporting).

Yet another example of the "attention effect"....minor derailments with no injuries somewhere don't get much news attention and don't get posted to FR, UNLESS there's recently been a deadly derailment. THEN it gets posted; Just as the incessant small eruptions from various Indonesian Volcanoes that take place many times a year don't make world newswires at all till after the Dec. 26 earthquake.

Just damn, I have been led to believe (by the leftist, "get'm out of their cars" crowd) that Japans RR system was the envy of the known world.

"The BBC is reporting no causualties"

Wonderful, you know there have been many prayers of thanks.

Coming so close to the other wreck, this is indeed a miracle, that none died.
