DDear Fellow Republican:
As Republicans, we are in the midst of a monumental struggle for control of the Party of Lincoln. At stake: a truly conservative voice in the conduct of our national affairs.
On the one hand, is the vast majority of Republicans who believe in the core values of the Grant Old Party of Abraham Lincoln: individual freedom, fiscal responsibility, small government and limiting government intrusion in the life of the individual to the barest, most inevitable basics. Republicans insist that the government that governs best is the government that governs least
On the other hand are those who espouse what they refer to as the "culture of life" They are the far right religious fundamentalists. They are reactionaries on social issues such as abortion and marriage, at the expense all the other core Republican values that made our Party great. They are in sharp contrast with the almost 80% of all Republicans who neither espouse nor support the social agenda of the religious right. They are Republicans in name only, because they would rather support a Democrat than allow a Republican to win just because he is not their kind of Republican. The RINOs have cost us elections, they have alienated good, real Republicans and they have cost us in credibility with our countrymen. In the California Recall Election of 2003, rather than uniting behind a Republican like Arnold Schwartzenegger, (who is not their kind of Republican) they ran another Republican candidate. In so doing, they almost cost us that election too.
The struggle has been long in coming. It is finally in the open and I believe the catalyst was the Terri Schiavo matter. Somehow the far right managed to convince themselves that there is no contradiction in the fact that the Party which, on the one hand sets itself up as the defender of marriage, on the other hand would weaken marriage by interfering with the bond between husband and wife.
The Broward Women's Republican Club, Federated has long stood for the core Republican principles of fiscal responsibility, individual freedom and smaller government. Some of our members are planning to start a political action committee (PAC) designed to support good, conservative Republican candidates who subscribe to the true Republican principles outlined above. These might be primarily, but not exclusively women candidates. We envision this PAC as something akin to "Emily's List", but for conservative candidates.
Accordingly, we are in the process of setting up a steering committee to guide the PAC in its inception. In an effort to ensure that our members and friends are as fully informed as possible, we have set up a presentation by one of the leading authorities on PACs. On Wednesday, June 1, 2005, we will be hosting a program to both round out a steering committee and help answer questions about what a PAC is and what it does.
If you are as concerned as we are about the turn our Party is taking, which once stood for freedom and common sense, you will want to join us on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 6PM at Damon's Grill for dinner.
We invite you to join us for dinner, join our club and join our PAC. We are doing something truly historic. The girls" at Emily's List have had the field to themselves for too long. The voice of common sense, of real Republicans has been too long silent.
Before it is too late, let us take our Party back. Fill out your membership form and send it in with your check today.
Sincerely,
Ana Gomez-Mallada, Esq. President

I've taken the writer's "Invitation to all Republicans" to heart and posted the entire email as sent to me since so many Republicans are Freepers.
I'm sure the author of this email wants as many people to respond as possible.
In other words, I'm a "real conservative" who wants to adopt the tactics and policy goals of doctrinaire Democrats.
She wins the idiot of the week award, and it's only Tuesday.
These are checker pants country-club Repubs. They should have died when Rockefeller did.
This woman has no sense of history if she's calling Lincoln someone who advocated for "individual freedom, fiscal responsibility, small government and limiting government intrusion in the life of the individual."
Damn! That lady accused me of being a RINO!
Sounds like one more "I'm a lifelong republican" democrat to me.
This email echoes some of the same discussions we see around here. It is, I think, the first time I've seen the RINO tag laid on the social conservatives, though.
Hey! I resemble that remark!
*news flash*
Lincoln was a dictator, not a conservative.
Gee, Ana must have attended Florida Imperial Government Schools.
One of the reasons I posted the email is that these pro-abort RINO's are always accusing Conservatives of being disloyal to the Republican Party.
I felt it was time some light was shed on their true nature.
Of course, Lincoln was pro-abortion and took the position that government should take no role in stopping any person from killing their offspring which would have been a violation of private property rights.../sarcasm>
Oh, before I forget his address on husbands rights to stop feeding their wives; after all women should be considered the property of men.../sarcasm>
How pathetic this group is...
You're in the mink coat and polyester Bob Dole brigade?
Crazy slut. Has anyone been able to check her background? Is she a "recent convert"?
This email states "On the one hand, is the vast majority of Republicans who believe in the core values of the Grant Old Party of Abraham Lincoln: individual freedom, fiscal responsibility, small government and limiting government intrusion in the life of the individual to the barest, most inevitable basics. Republicans insist that the government that governs best is the government that governs least" So party of Lincoln- why the heck did we need the Civil War. The South was defending the individual freedom to own slaves. Which had been allowed in most States of the Union. Just as most pro abortionists say " I do not personally believe in abortion but think woman should be free to have that choice" The confederates could no doubt have said-" though I personally do not own any slaves I think a person should be free to have that choice" They were being very fiscally responsible. The agrian economy of the South was very dependent on slavery. If slavery had been abolished without a replacement labor force I doubt their economy would have survived. As for small government and limiting government intrusion in the life of the individual to the barest, most inevitable basics. How does making war against a confederacy of states who want to leave the US and from their own government espouse that teaching? Oh head up I do not think slavery is right, I think even if the reasons for the Civil war were mostly bogus, that it is a good thing the North won and we have a great Union now. I just wanted to point out that it is possible to carry the emails statement to that conclusion. Just as we pro lifers know there is a fundemental moral questions that should determine the role of government so did the abolitionists. The questions include " who or what gives life it value?". " what is true freedom and where does it come from?" We can not have a government that is truly anchored in the Constitution and the Declaration of Indpendence unless we can answer these questions.
PS the emailers name looks Hispanic. I would guess maybe she is Catholic. If so dear Lady everytime you receive communion you are in a state of mortal sin. So if you want to clamor for the right to kill babies you must leave the Church.
Unfortunately, this is a prevalent attitude in 'R' leadership where I come from. The annointed ones in the state political leadership often have this position and attitude. Ever wonder why conservative grassroots are fine to go to the dance with, but once there they end up standing by the punchbowl all night?
Bump
Cheap Democrat RINOs versus Culture of Life Republicans. This is what happens when the big tent gets a little too big...
